i think they all have their place, doesnt mean i dont have issues with the prequels

its bad enough they tried so hard to mirror the 2 in places yet completely fuck up what was good about the OT by having an unnecessary beginning introduction story, about a stupid unlikeable kid, not being thrown into it like we were with 'a new hope'..

''hes too old to begin the training''... what the fuck yoda, hes a 10 year old boy, luke is what 19..

they should have started when anakin was 19, and had anakin almost die and be reborn darth vader late in episode 2

what movie goer wouldnt want to see darth vader slaughter a shitload of jedi's in his suit, something we didnt get to see in the OT

and hopefully they would have done something to explain how shit he was at fighting ben kenobi in 'a new hope' lol

by the way, last night i watched the 'de-specialized' edition of the original star wars in 1080p (parts of it are up-scaled) and its hands down 10x better than the new bullshit. I was introduced to star wars with the 1997 VHS special edition so didnt give a shit about the heritage of star wars. but its just works so much better, everything fits, nothing looks out of place, lukes x-wing looks shit, which is how it should look, because they are a small group of rebels. mos eisley space port looks like a shit hole, because it is a shit hole (wretched hive of scum and villainy to be exact).

and the light saber fight between obiwan and darth vader actually looks okay, because of the way the light is flaring on the screen, it gives it a feeling of speed and intensity.. i really want the original unaltered trilogy to be released now.

its even cool how fucked up it is going from episode 3 to 4, from a nice clean hi-tech environment under the republic, to a fucked up scrap heap society under the empire, the dichotomy is intense and it works!

J.J. Abrams Will Reportedly Direct the Next Star Wars Movie
24 January 2013

Gird your loins Star Wars fans – reports are surfacing that J.J. Abrams (Mission: Impossible III, Star Trek, Super 8) has been tapped to direct the next Star Wars.

Disney, which recently acquired Lucasfilm for $4 billion, is currently closing a deal with Abrams to helm the first film in the new Star Wars series, according to reports from The Wrap and Entertainment Weekly. No other major details were released, but back when the Mouse House acquisition was announced, Disney said it planned to release Episode VII in 2015.

"For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next", George Lucas said in a press release announcing the acquisition last October. "It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers."

Abrams, who is set to release his latest directorial effort 'Star Trek Into Darkness' May 17, had previously seemed uninterested in the Star Wars directing gig, telling Entertainment Weekly that he HollywoodLife.com that he believed he would be seeing the film "as a paying moviegoer!"

Representatives for Disney and Abrams had not returned calls seeking comment at press time.

Harrison Ford Back for Star Wars VII?
15 February 2013

There's Talk of Him Making a Deal

Image

Time to dig out that Star Wars Rumour Alert siren we stole from a Star Destroyer (at the cost of many Bothans’ lives, but we figure they’re used to it by now): the mighty scoop hounds over at Latino Review are reporting that Harrison Ford has made a deal to return for Star Wars VII.

This has yet to be confirmed by Disney or Ford, though the Review crew have been enjoying a successful run of leak reporting and Ford has previously said he's open to the idea, so it could well turn out to be true.

No details have emerged about what it might entail should this emerge blinking into reality, but you’d got to figure it’s so that Han and likely Luke and Leia can show up as their older selves in Episode VII, which JJ Abrams is directing from Michael Arndt’s script.

Different situations. When Anakin was 10, the Jedis where thriving, they had their rules, training facilities etc.

When Luke was 19, all Jedis where gone (minus a few in hiding whom escaped Order 66) , all old rules went out the window, he was their last hope to ressurect the Jedi Order!

I might recommend reading

The Thrawn Trilogy :

https://digital.darkhorse.com/profile/1 ... ising-tpb/
https://digital.darkhorse.com/profile/1 ... mmand-tpb/

Dark Empire Trilogy :

https://digital.darkhorse.com/profile/1 ... re-bundle/
https://digital.darkhorse.com/profile/1 ... -6-bundle/
https://digital.darkhorse.com/profile/1 ... pires-end/

These are really good, should have been movies, but it's too late now.
Also I think they're gonna ignore any comics and books written after Episode 6 so... :-/

But having Luke, Leia and Solo in mentor roles in the new movies is pretty cool. Going by the story's from the comics, Luke is now the new Yoda, THE Jedi Master over all!
