haha that 2 second Gun Reprise is amazing.
Deffo sounds like a mistake made by Liam and not intended.... i mean it's not unlikely. If Liam has his songs arranged alphabetically it would mean Gun Reprise would be just above Hyperspeed on his list

i have to say, this has all made for quite interesting reading. this is the first time ive bothered to really check these forums since the download gig, and i think the reaction from alot of people is somewhat similar now to what it was back in June/July. by that i mean the main issue seems to be the repetitive nature of alot of these sets.

the thing is, and i think this is the point here, this is brixton. the band have said themselves countless times its their place, its their home. last 3 gigs of the year, and if im not mistaken (as i said i havent been following close enough this year) theres only been 4 uk sets all year?

dropping hyperspeed was a nice touch. it works well live, its a wicked track. but for them to basically not bother for the next two nights is a bit lame. i remember back around their law tour, 2005. i think they played brixton, and leeroy came on right at the end for charly and out of space? different times and days now for sure, but the band were in a serious rebuilding phase back then, and the willingness to experiment was stronger than it is now. but there was certainly an effort on the bands behalf to please both casual and hardcore fans. why do you think their law got a second cd? joe average couldnt give two shits about the gold edition, thats why they bought the silver/standard edition. liam put that second cd out for the people who have been following the band for years and years regardless. and that new fat of the land release was a complete joke. talk about cashing in for the sake of it. i dont know how much liam had to do with it, i imagine it was an XL thing, but that second 'extra fat' cd was complete bullshit. i just get the impression (and i always have) that liam is saving all his best unreleased, rare shit for a prodigy boxset when they finally call it a day. but that day wont be for 3 or 4 years yet, so until then, its not fair to keep shortchanging (in a sense) the people who live and breathe the band (no pun intended). if these gigs were like arena shows then yes, i could understand the point of the tried and trusted setlist. but these were brixton shows, fans quite literally came from all over europe to see them. and would it have killed them to drop 3, just 3 old tracks for the fans? funky shit, rhythm of life & break and enter 95 or GABBA would have been my 3 or 4 tracks of choice. and nobody WOULD CARE that they played the other usual shit, all the hardcore fans would remember were the classics that theyve been dying to hear for years. and the casual fans (of which im sure there will have been a few lets face it) would have gone home happy singing the words to firestarter and omen because its what they wanted to see.

i really dont think its that hard to please everyone, especially when theyve got such a deep back catalog of tried and tested and successful songs to choose from.

oh and rest assured liam reads all of this shit, all that about neko being the fans sort of main line of communication to the band was sort of half right, but those were different times. the band read forums, theres no two ways about it. and im not sure if anyones touched on this yet or not, but what the hell was all that about in the last youtube video? the question of if its going to be the last ever brixton shows? either the buildings being knocked down or the band are about to embark on their farewell tour.

or the world could end...............
(it's been on the news and everythink)

I agree with the most of the fans here, the setlist really does need a total turn around, it is just laziness.

Luckily(?) I got to hear the new track even though I wasn't blown away, same with JF, AWOL, DOGBITE, all just meh.

Hyperspeed was a nice surprise though and all in all I did have a couple of great nights.

fuck it, go wild Liam and open with Firestarter for a change and really set the place a blaze.

Or even better - don't play it at all. Ever again. It was shite in 1996 and playing it at every single gig since then isn't making it any better.
