Also another thing, did Neil help write the tracks or did he only help with the process of mastering and mixing?
that + helped to create certain sounds for Liam. he said that Liam was a guy who always knew what he wanted unlike other artists. for instance, Neil worked with Liam on the breaking glass sample in break'n'enter

I have never done any drugs in my life. But i think that some drugs can help you with the creative side. But that is in small amounts, and rare. Not often.

And thats where most people fail. They will get hooked on drugs.. People are weak that way. To bad.

if i was not a martial artist, i probably would have smoked weed myself to test out the effect on the music making

Drugs are bad m'kay!

Naa I definitely think drugs have had a big impact on their lives and how they were moulded as musicians. Anyone who's ever tried MDMA or shrooms (especially the former for me personally) or anything else similar will know how much it opens up your mind to music. Weed doesn't do much for me with music, other than just chill me out.

This is coming from a guy that doesn't actually make any music, although plenty of other creative stuff. I'm not sure quite what my point is, I guess I agree, those kind of drugs open your mind to intricacies in music that you couldn't achieve normally. But then again, once it's been opened it never really shuts, does it?

I miss smoking weed and listening to music so much. it let's your mind notice and appreciate aspects of the music you never heard before. but it is a very expensive habit and without a vaporizer it's terrible for your health. yeah creatively it's a godsend but in terms of being a functioning human being it's draining on your career/work and has all kinds of effect on anxiety and all sorts

i'll be honest with you mate, since quitting weed my musical creativity has dropped to ZERO. but it's for the best if you want to live a normal life... well that's just me anyway

Yeah. But thats probably only because you used drug in the first place. If you have learned to put your mind into the creative state without drugs (probably harder to do without.. but still can be done), then you would not have had the problem to make music without drugs.

Kinda the very same thing as athletes who train with steroids. Steroids will make you train two-three times a day, and feel great.

problem is: you feel like superman on them, but as soon as you stop taking them, you feel like lois lane.

IF you get used to train hard without steroids, then you will never experience the lois lane feeling.

probably the same with weed and mushrooms

Liam has taken enough coke to put Pete Doherty to shame. That has fucked him more than any amount of weed. I doubt he takes it during the writing process though. It's also aged him like fuck. He'll look like Iggy Pop in 5 years time.

Liam could take out many unfinished tracks from his most drug heavy periode, and finish those tracks.

I never used any drugs, ever, so I can't say that this shit is essential for inspiration. To me, it's bullshit. You don't need any of that stuff to create something good, so anyone who claims that they "lost" their mojo after quitting drugs is lame, in my opinion.

P.S. I don't know if this counts as drugs, but all I "use" when playing with sounds is a cold beer and cigarettes. Luckies, to be specific :)

Drugs do help with production, I must admit
Can I produce without them? Sure.
But I do feel that they help loosen me up, clear my head, and create a more openness with my songwriting... gets rid of me second guessing myself and just getting down to pure songwriting like when I first started producing.
It''s hard to explain, but I also produce a lot when I'm not on anything.
But my album Children Of The Bomb was mainly written while on drugs and felt is was much more in tune with me personally/musically compared to the previous album.
But there is a limit you should go when it comes down to it to avoid burning yourself out.

After a week of drug taking and binging, i've decided to keep working on my music in a way tonight and then put out all material in the coming weeks.

I think by seeing all this i've definitely thought that Liam probably doesn't take drugs as much anymore, maybe some alchohol and fags but probably it? (champagne master?)

I'm going to indulge in some madman and maryjane tonight (possibly)

After tonight, i'll be stopping to free myself of addiction and sort my brain out as i've been doing it since a teen (smoking dope) i've definitely burnt myself out and i'm not sure if my production skills are any good as of now, i might try and write a sober track (not that i've done any..maybe thats my problem?)

Peace BK!

Drugs help with production, only if you already tried them for a longer periode..

if not, you will do much better with a clear mind.
