Jack Reacher (2012)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ICps2gvJBw

'Jack Reacher' would be a lousy title for any film but that aside this is an unusually smart and entertaining action thriller that delivers from start to finish, and has a great cast from top to bottom. Among them a couple of living legends in the form of Robert Duvall (The Godfather I-II, Apocalypse Now) and quite unexpectedly director extraordinaire Werner Herzog who plays a mysterious Eastern European villain. This is the sort of film they don't really make anymore, at least in the blockbuster realm.

The film's original and far more fitting title was 'One Shot' (which is the name of the Jack Reacher novel that this is adapted from) but the studio changed it to 'Jack Reacher' in a hope of turning the film into a franchise. I guess they didn't realize that the name Jack Reacher sounds like a cross between a male porn star and a kid's comic book hero.

The story was totally crap and even worse than Battleship and the general cheeziness of Hollywood was notable :) But it's still good entertainments and lot of creativeness. I was more on monsters-side :)

I don't like comedy, but this is really funny since the director is "fresh" to comedy :)

Only 9.3? That's blasphemy. Image

One of the best comic book based films ever made. Stars, along with Warren Beatty, Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman, Madonna, and "the Kid".

I would say opposite. Imo both Cloud Atlas and Oblivion was better then this. Only fun part was the action scenes. storyline was awful.

C'mon, it's a great post-apocalyptic movie for boys, good high-tech atmosphere and very raw. Cloud Atlas is just too much and very bad try to be "philosophical" and it's not pure sci-fi either. I thought it was pure nonsense just as Matrix. I like raw cyberpunk. Personally, I think Elysium is a new Blade Runner.

People expect too much today I guess. It's very old school.
