solid is a positive thing...
solid is slang that means perfect or exactly as it should be...
a.k.a. "The way he mixed that tune into the next track was solid."
Sorry for my American slang
And how did I become Neorev?
Let's see...
Neorev was a name that I came up with in middle school. I use to love making up band names and track titles. I use to write lyrics and was a drummer in various bands throughout middle school and high school. But in 1999, I began messing around with electronic music after my older brother's friend gave me Fruity Loops to try out.
Originally I used the alias The Hypnotic Impulse for my electronic music production. I still have my music from back then when I was doing my thang as Hypnotic Impulse. From 1999 to 2002, I had 4 "albums" if you can call them that... more like works in progress/stepping stones in my development as a producer. It wasn't until the 5th so-called "album" where I thought I was getting somewhere serious.
Throughout this whole time, I was toying with the idea of switching to Neorev and even had logo that I remember drawing all over the place, all over my folders and school books and on school property hehehehe.
What does Neorev mean?
Neo = New
+
Rev = Revolution
=
There ya go, Neorev
Why Neorev?
I wanted to come up with a name that wasn't an actual word or anything that existed because I always liked names that I would later find out was taken. To avoid the disappointment, I combined those to two words into one and there ya go... NEOREV. But now I've actually seen this word pop up outside of my own music. How in the hell did this happen? No idea lol. Another name that I always wanted to use was Mosaic. But it's a common word, not so easy to make it your own.
When did I become Neorev? Well you can thank Brainkiller for it.
You see the official switch from The Hypnotic Impulse to Neorev occurred in 2003 during the first Brainkiller Presents Music From The Jilted Generation competition. Before I could enter my track as The Hypnotic Impulse, some mofo entered his track under the name Hypnotic Circulation. I was no longer a unique snowflake. My alias would be too similar... Hypnotic Circulation... Hypnotic Impulse... thought it may hurt my chances or get people mixed up.
So I thought,
"Hey, why not use the name I had lying around for years and just call myself Neorev instead?"
And there ya go... the rest is history...
Goodbye
Hypnotic Impulse...
Hello
NEOREV!
From 2003 on, I began working on what would be the first official NR album. And after about three years worth of work and about 3 actual albums/CDs worth of music, 2005 saw the destruction of my hard drive and the loss of that very 3 years worth of music I had been working on. Poof... gone... all of it. The only thing I had was two data discs worth of unfinished demos and ideas. But all the little bits and pieces, stems, VSTs, programs... were sadly all gone.
There's a lesson hidden throughout this little story...
BACK...
YOUR...
SHIT...
UP!
Oh, and Neorev sounds a hell of a lot better than The Hypnotic Impulse.
But back on topic...
This mix/mash up you did is
SOLID!
Where can I find more of your stuff?
What's your Soundcloud? Is that the best place to hear more choons?
I also post music on Reverbnation, dunno if you ever used that.
