So, it looks like I'm actually not the only one who maintains a strong dislike for Omen. To me, Omen makes Rockweiler sound great. And I totally don't like Rockweiler.
I think it was the low point for me in the Prodigy's history. I thought BGAT was much better than Omen. Well, in the end IMD was a good overall album, so I can forgive.
Back to topic: Speaking about IMD, I get the feeling that the next record will kind of sound similar to IMD (far as sounds and structures go), but more dark and all that. I always wondered when Liam will start to repeat himself. I'm actually astounded he made it five albums deep until it kind of repeats on some level. I don't know any other band that has achieved that. Still, I'd have loved a new type of drumsound. I always loved his tricky drum programming. It's less deep and subtle now, which is okay, but it does sound like the drums on IMD. I had secretely hoped he'd bring the cutted up breakbeats back. It certainly is time for more funk in the drums.

Omen was sort of received by dance music folks with derision and indiference.
One of the Pendulum guys said that Noisia's remix of Omen is what the tune should have "been" in the first place.. wich one of the Noisia chaps agreed with. Here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJ79yu4J0PE
around 5:48. Also, stuff about The prodigy being "disappointing, these days"... joking about Pendulum suing the prodigy for ripping off the Pendulum sound etc. etc.
It's a bit weak in the production department. Catchy but not really a tune that i play again and again.
Rockweiler, on the other hand.. sounds very very good. It actually sounds like a "modern" tune... instead of a production that a couple of kids could have done in their basement (It sounds like substandard Does it Offend You, Yeah?).

you're saying the production on rockweiler (as we know it) is far better than omen? fuck no. omen is cheesy, i agree, but i wouldn't say it's poor productionwise, at least def not worse than rockweiler.

I actually really like Omen, both single and album versions, and especially extended version. Production is really good on all of IMD apart from I find Warriors Dance could have been a bit harder...
Mescaline could have been much better if it stuck to original live version, and Worlds on Fire got semi-ruined on album, but Rockweiler has definitely improved leaps and bounds with re-works...
It seems that some tracks get better with re-works and others are better left alone. I hope AWOL doesn't get re-worked anymore as I like that as it is. I also hope that if it's a bonus track it gets the proper production treatment and mastered with the rest of the album...

man Omen is one of the only IMD tracks that really stand out (with WOF).
Much better than 'warrior's dance', which is the one I found the most dissapointing actually...
Thunder is pretty good too. TMTTH is average, Omen reprise was potentially great, stand up is very nice and colours is what AONO could have been like.
But this is al not important. The cool thing is that this band can create music for different kind of people.

Omen is top 3 live track for me. It comes like series of waves.
high energy, uplifting, banging + added sing along effect... (mind that last one)
comparing youtube recordings.. crowd reaction is one of the best with omen.
It's great that we have diversity here, different opinions. luckily each album has also diversity. everybody gets something. i count myself lucky.. i really like most of the new stuff so far. i like straight to face punch, rockweiler is that. i admit, it might get boring bit quicker listening it as studio album.

I liked Omen when it came out because it had a different vocal style from any other Keith/Maxim vocals, it was anthemy, you could sing along to it, i mean actually sing rather than shout along to. 5 years on, it sounds dated and cheesy. It doesn't have the long term appeal as Firestarter.

Take the Omen hating/loving somewhere else, it's got nothing to do with new album speculations!

Yeah, and around 6:18 a pair of lovely legs + ass walk by.
It's off-topic again in here, kinda like it though. Omen's got fans and haters, just like Rockweiler. It's always that way, it is and always will be. I prefer most Prodigy tracks over anything else around the time a new Prodigy album is out. Shit's always golden, I can't believe all the sudden hate for Omen / Rockweiler.

That is indeed really fucking cool sounding. Wouldn't mind that thing building really slow and long and just culminating in the end like a proper Prodge track should.
