There was never really a feud, there was a bit of a fallout creatively.

The follow-up to The Fat of The Land was originally going to be quite Keith vocal heavy with a lot of punk influence, but this idea was scrapped after Baby's Got A Temper was released. Liam decided not to use Keith or Maxim on the album, which ended up being what we know was 'Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned'.

This is a good article about it with a Liam Howlett interview.

Hope that helped

i think Liam was ready to release/record Aono ver1 and rang Keith up who responded that he was doing his solo bits atm which was (at least) one of the reasons liam was fuzzed and binned the whole material and started over. after Keith heard spitifire he decided to devote to the prodigy. that's all i know, apart from the fact that Liam thought they weren't moving forward with the new (ver1) stuff

I believe the main reason was Keith's private life. It seems that he "wasn't quite there" at this period of time.

"Liam Howlett: I didn’t speak to Keith for a year while I made Always Outnumbered. I never had a problem with Maxim it was only really Keith. There was a bit of paranoia and drug use happening, but I just knew that it had to be a beats album. It actually freed my mind up. I knew it wasn’t going to be a big record but it was a process we had to go through and we came out of it. It’s a very confusing record for a lot of people, but it’s a record that I really enjoyed doing."

I guess it must be difficult at times not being too involved in the creative process of the band, being confined to the role of an onstage puppet for the most part of the 20-something years they have been together
