Good news, but unless it's announced within the next 11 days I don't see it happening this year...

if not an album, i would at least expect a single release.

In this year knowing certain DATE of album is for me enough. This waiting without knowing how long it takes seems last eternally.

Is there a minimum of a time period where a music company is obligated to announce the release of an album or single?

My guess is 9th march 2015 and hopefully we will get a single before

Everyone is making it like The Prodigy have no time to release a new album before the year is up...

But just look at Aphex Twin...

They literally just announced the album this past week and it comes out next month in September.

I think the time it takes to hand in an album and put it out for release has drastically changed with the new market.

There wasn't even a hint that there would be a new album until they announced it by flying a blimp and some graffiti art this last week,

There's still a good chance we will get something this year, if not a single at least before a very early release in 2015... by March the latest.

Do you guys remember Radiohead? The King Of Limbs? Announced 14th of February 2011, released digitally just 5 days later.

Anything can happen in an optimistic world. So a 2014 release can still happen.

Most likely Aphex Twin worked on the album for quite some time. So it actually doesn't matter when you announce it and when you release it in this case. There's some experience involved when we talk about The Prodigy, like when Liam says he's working on it (it sounds like he's finished some tracks when in fact he's just throwing some beats here and there), or that the album is coming "next year" but he's still looking for a sound of the whole thing, for a starting point. He always over estimates the time line for an album release. I think he still messes with some tracks for the album even now, then they'll master it, then the promotion blah blah - Liam in this respect still lives well into the `90's.


That being said I am hopeful it will come out this year.

If I remember that album? I lived that album. It was a sudden smack in the face for me personally, helped me shape a new view of music, definitely completely changed my taste and choice of music. Yes, that release was out of the blue really, those few days were daaaaaamn exciting. No waiting, just the album. No shitting around, years of interviews with bullshit before the release etc. They really know how to bring the music to the people.
