So a guy that i know. He is a friend but not a close friend. He does some Dj'ing from time to time. I gave him some tracks to play at a small party. Including one of my new tunes that are not 100% finished yet.

Long story made short: He played that one track and told everybody that is was a demo from the next Prodigy album. :?

so two things:

1) I am a proud guy. Martial arts and music is a very personal part of myself. And i dont have many "idols".. But Liam Howlett is one of the few guys i look up to. So my music is a serious hobby. I would never like to be compared to him that way.

2) I am kinda starting to get away from the big beat / breakbeat genre.. This track is a unfinished track that was supose to be my last big beat track before going into more alternative stuff that i have started to like..

So am i overreacting here?

I wouldnt get very upset.
The only thing is, if someone liked your track, now they cannot find out about you.

Personally, I'd rather have the DJ tell people who they were as apposed to lying and potentially giving less of a life to the artist.

that's me personally and i'd probably smack the dj for telling people it's the prodigy..
