Their opinion on DJ culture worries me, does their knowledge extend to a quick flick through Maxim magazine or something?

For me it shows just how out of touch they are with what's going on. There are tons of good things happening at Ibiza each year, it's not all Guetta, Avicii and all those other cuntflaps.

Ritchie Hawtin's ENTER nights for example are some of the most forward thinking in electronic music. With massively talented artists like Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, Gaiser, Luciano, Dixon, Paul Woolford, Magda... And then you have a host of other smaller curated nights paving the way for new and exciting underground artists to push through.

The fact they have cunts like Zed's Dead, Skrillex, Caspa and Jaguar skills supporting them at gigs only confirms my point. They're out of touch with what's going on underneath the skin of electronic music at the moment.

They need to quit with this 'USB DJ' bollocks, they're just contradicting themselves. They're not doing themselves any favours by tarring them all with the same brush like that.

Sounds like Eagle Break is actually the "trippy mid-section" of Nasty Nasty from Liam´s description.

The studio visit and article was written beginning of October so the release date might still be Jan and the record already finished since they started all the promo stuff as of last week (promo shots etc.)

since death ray sounds very Bond-ish...are there any names that make sense from a bond-kind of view?

I mean for the album

I thought he might mean the "Filler Discontent" that he played live before "Breathe"

but you could possibly be correct.

i wanna hear the new album NOW! :x

Good writeup. Nice to read some substantial things here other than "It'll be so bangin' whohoooo" (Nothing against that, though.)
I agree about them kind of being 'the outsider looking in', not really part of the contemporary electronic music movement etc. Don't think that's so bad, though. I always appreciate the different-minded.
I don't really like modern DJ behaviour myself but that's just the way it will probably be until DJ Skynet finally takes over. But yeah, taking Ibiza as a whole for their dislike is not really fair, I've been there and it's not as mono minded a place as some like to put it. Well, they needed a placeholder for their message and most of what they do should be taken with a grain of salt, so why not. I actually like that they're voicing what many of us feel.

-Title album this week lol

-Hope ''Get your fight on'' is totally different from what he heard live

-Why i feel that Rot will be the first single? ...i hope he improved it a lot.
like i have said many times , it is by far the best song from what we have heard yet but still not good enough for first single . Although it is much better than Omen.

Anyway good to have some official news,we shall see brothers.

thats the first thing i thought way back when i heard liam is bringing in that guy who co-produced invaders must die (track not album). theyve always been at the frontier when it comes to electronic music and then liam brings another bloke to 'improve' the sound. its like usain bolt getting running lessons from dunno woody allen. for the past decade they are limping after others who normally wouldnt be worth mentioning in the same sentence. liams worst tracks on two last albums were exactly those where he kinda wanted to get along with the 'current sound' instead of showing what prodigy is all about. ive got a feeling this album is their sorta back to the roots, no compromise, head first speakerblastin

Aye, that sums up pretty well how I'm feeling man and I hope you're right on that last point.

But track titles like 'Ibiza' worry me, why should they give a fuck what anyone else is doing? And then provide some kind of commentary on it? They clearly think they're in touch with the music scene and can slag off who they want at will. But in reality they're just beginning to sound like grumpy old men chewing on sour grapes.

Since they did not do anything great since FOTL they do sound a bit like Jack and Walter. For me after their 90's success they have every right to ''attack'' anyone they want. But for those who did not grow up in the 90's they do seem like grumpy old men who are stuck in their past glory. Not to mention that most teens today do not know the band...and iam not talking for those Gaga/Shakira/Perry ect fans. Most of them just recognise a song but cant say who wrote it. They do need a really good album to expand the fan base but they have not realised it yet. I remember someone who wrote back in 2004 that they cant recover from their 90's success and he was right. I hope Liam delivers something better this time.

agree, FOTL(-era 96'-98') was their best and as with most band there won't be another one. i can't describe it but it was an awesome time and i am glad i have seen them live in '98 while the Prodigy vibe was at his most powerful moment.

i also understand that it is very hard to live up to others expectations. In a time where every no-no can create the biggest beats in minutes using current tooling available for your tablet i won't be in Master H's shoes. Repekt to Master H!

Fans of the original Prodigy are now in their late 30s / early 40s, so those who went to the Jilted Tour into Breathe Tour etc caught them rising at the right time but unfortunately not their target market anymore.

This happens with loads of bands, they had their time but they will never get near to 96–98 and I think for me IMD cemented that, the first time I'd heard a first single/lead track that made me cringe a little as it was trying too hard to sound relevant.

This new album deal shows they're not going to bomb anytime soon and with EDM dying a death this next album is critical for them to show they can still produce rather than being just a live band

Omen and imd were among the best tracks they did on imd. I mean, they could go back trying to sound fotl-ish but why not move with the times? Jilted, experience and fotl were time-relevant. They don't have to do the whole edm thing, but taking elements of what works isn't a bad thing.

I only wish the quality of the songs themselves are a bit better, and not lazy like aono.
