ok, very first impressions..
Image

It's sounds like Liam took some of the coolest elements from RWTW, Piranha and Omen and combined it properly to create something greater.

I LOVE it's brutal sound and the instrumentation. Rhythm is very good.

It's weak spot is in it's progression.
I feel that some parts needed more "atmospheres" (filtering variation ect to actually "ambush" the listener).
What i really missed was...the "grand finale".

Overall..GREAT VIBE!!

My cup of tea. :-D

I take your points Ekko but guess what, the evidence suggests that The Prodigy ARE a live act. I don't think there are many bands who could do so many gigs and have relatively little studio output in comparison.

My point is this, Nasty is a good studio track, it is going to be enhanced tenfold in a live environment.

allow me to correct you, "gigs" the correct term is show, that is offensive to bands who change setlists and dont play the same shit over and over, thats called shows.

As much as I agree with Ekko, it's pretty obvious their focus has almost completely shifted to live performance. They make their money from gigs and it is imperative for them to keep that ball rolling as far it goes. But because of that, the quality and nuance of the bands output suffers for it.

Well, I'd differ, as I don't think you can categorize a band that easy into "live" band or something else. They play live a lot, but that doesn't necessarily make them anymore "live" band than the Beasties (when they were still together). (Apart from Prodigy being kind of unusual for a live band, you know, having the big part of the show coming from a computer and all)
They put on a good show.

Let's agree to disagree, as I find Nasty to be a mediocre studio track but am pretty sure it'll work live. Like often times in Prodigy land, which brings me right back to my initial post: If it works live well it's still not necessarily a great track.

Now that I 've caught up and read the fuckton of posts made while I was at work (:X), let me present my opinion to the always caring world of Brainkiller.

It has the punch, it has the Eagle Break which I wish was used as a whole somewhere (rise of the eagles?). I ain't no tourist sample is a little yet badass thingy, Keith's vocals are cool, I like the synths and intro. However, it feels weak on drums indeed (production wise) but I don't care whether they sound similar to Omen because the track is totally different and complicated on all the other parts (consider this an opinion). And seeing how they chose it as the first single, which kind of implies that it's the shittiest and most commercial one... why should I get pessimistic? :)

I saw some attempts to write down the lyrics. Have fun with my try. Expecting to get pitchforked by anyone who knows anything next to decent English.

so raw
nasty nasty triple x rated
nasty nasty gutters and wastebins
nasty nasty deeper in the dung (????)
nasty nasty making bodies hurt
deep down!
keep it down!
so raw... so nasty!

as for the single release time... I almost made a post saying "haha sweet, next new track in 4 days" and then I noticed it's actually February :X

This should be a rule for Liam: DO NOT use Keith vocals again.

Tune is nothing special, sounds like bonus track from IMD. Thought Liam did couple of turns on his road to this album, and it looks like not.

Look fellas, we've heard this and Rock-Weiler out of 14 tracks.

It's hardly time to judge the whole piece.

Unless the studio RW differs greatly from what we've heard live, I know that's at least one track that will be better than Nasty.
