I wish people just kept their own opinions as their own opinions and not try and project them unto others.

So stuff like "if you grew up with jilted you will hate this" is just bs. I know plenty of people from that time that like nasty.

I wrote to the director of the video with a few questions and here's what he got to say

Quote:
Hey, thanks for the message.

The video took three and a half weeks to make (I know crazy) it was a pretty tight schedule . We did however conceptualize and plan it all out a few weeks prior to filming/editing/animating.

The band (well Liam) saw a video I made for a band called Bovine and wanted a video done in that style. Their label sought me out and the rest is history.

Yup same here. After being blown away by Jilted and its scope, Firestarter was a massive disappointment. Breathe was slightly better first time round but only growed on me considerably well after FOTL came out.

I kinda had the same feeling with Nasty as the first impression was a mild disappointment, but having heard it today for the second time properly it definitely hit harder and managed to enjoy it a lot more without the hefty expectations yesterday´s first play had on it.

My main, if only, issue is the beat and main vocal come in prematurely, it could have developed more at the end, and yes it sounds like imd/omen/rwtw had a baby, but its way cooler than imd/rwtw and almost on par with omen. I'm quite happy with the direction, its licence for them to keep playing live and will go off. Truthfully I'm not one of those people who listen to music all day long, in the car etc so I'm more keen for this to be a banging album they can tour with and I can get off on when I'm in the mood for prodge.

No idea how they made it sound so fresh and give the vibe the track gives off, cos its a lot of older elements.

For a first single its better than imd (track) was.

I think the reason some don't get the wow factor is that this is coming off the back of a really great album, where as IMD single was after an album that people less were enthusiastic about.. remember Memphis bells anyone? I tried so hard to like it!

There's nothing about this track that really hurts my brain, its very easy to get into, jump around to, and if you want to over analyze it and feel negative about the band you are free to, its just a shame. Hopefully the next track changes your mind.

I can say the same. I like Nasty but 4 me and many of the people of my age it is just a good song. When i see people go nuts and post things like : ''amazing, killer, epic ect ect'' why i cant post the opposite?

If you refer to me i did not say that just because i grew up with MFTJG i will hate Nasty or anything new. I mean that i know how it feels to listen to a Prodigy Really amazing single for the first time and i'm telling you Nasty is mediocre, even to some IMD songs.

Who knows, maybe there are epic songs on the album and believe me i want it to be a good album, even better than the 90's albums.
I put my money on "Beyond the Deathray" ,"Wall of Death" and "Medicine".I hope WoD is not similar to Stand Up.

It got elements from imd omen... yeah. But those tracks were more melodic and cheesy, but nasty isnt, nasty is the raw darker version of it. I am pleased

Jesus. Some of you people have become so desperate for new material from the band that you'll lap up any old shit. Fact is, The Prodigy are no longer originators. Their music doesn't have the wow factor it once had. Unfortunately I was expecting Nasty to be as bad as it is because Liam simply doesn't have the same drive that he once had.

The last truly exciting tune that he made was Back 2 Skool. How old is that now? 10 years or so? Warriors Dance was OK but pretty shonkily produced. They're concentrating too much on how much they want to "rock" their fans, but not focussing on what made them unique, a special hook, sample or vibe. Now it's all just "blah blah blah we're fire, rah rah rah um wire... yeah!"

It's a fucking crying shame to see my favourite band slowly deteriorate into such mediocrity.

I was 14 when MFTJG came out, and that was the time i feel in love with Prodigy. 4 me MFTJG is not only simply genius stuff, but that LP has got smth U can't really discribe, that makes it timeless. I know Liam always says that TFOTL is the highest level of Prodigy, but 4 me it was 2 commercial, i mean MFTJG has that undrground vibe.
Anyway back 2 the topic. I really dig Nasty. Synth & Eagle Break just blow my mind. If anybody don't like it...cool Man, whatever, the thing is it's absolutly amazin 2 me that my favorite band is still out there, making records, playing gigs ( even if the setlist is repeating itself ). I remember those awful time from 1999-2001/02 when i thought that guys gonna split.
I just think that prodigy had their stand out time in 1994-1998 years. Those times will never come back, and people should undertand that. With every genius band it just happens. U can't expect smth so revolutionary as firestarter ever again.

Whether you are a fan of Nasty or not, the great news is that Liam is unlikely to have played his strongest hand with the first single.

Facts vs. opinions maybe...?

I'm a fan from the early Experience days and I like Nasty, what does that make me? I also happen to find Back 2 Skool pretty boring.

After almost 6 years you feel this is a strong 1st single prodigy song? a killer bla bla bla? I liked it too but i think it is not good enought for a single. Only a handful said it is crap. The arguement is that some say it is amazing a killer, ect and some say it is not as good as a proper prodigy single should be.
At least compared to what Liam has shown to us he is capable of with his 90's singles and some most recent ones.

You think like that because you want people and masses to like it. To be liked by the classic dance edm listener.
This track is not their best but its a great track and ofc its not best fom day, imd and omen arent best from imd too, so we are only to wait for the new album which I think is going to be a banger.

Yeah why is he doing this? Same with IMD.
