Wrong place at the wrong time. Like I said, few years later it was the Justice/Ed Banger electro era and that sound was big. But also they were a victim of their own success. FOTL was so big, nothing was ever going to follow it up. Not to mention the US market for electronic music was totally dead by the time AONO came out... only to be revived in the Dubstep/EDM era a few years later (to the present). The stop and start single with Baby's Got A Temper - they didn't really have a choice at that point, they needed to do a 180 on everyone and just be like "ok Prodigy isn't just Firestarter and Keith doing punk rock lyrics".

I'm glad they went the Girls route and went through that phase of exorcising the FOTL era from their system, ultimately it made them reinvent themselves and bring things back to their roots in many ways on the last album, while still updating it to a new audience. Even if you think about the way they handle themselves online - all the social media stuff, Dugdale videos, etc. that only came around when they were forced to reinvent themselves to a new generation. They used to be so bad with that kind of stuff, this site and Neko's seemed to be some of the only places that had any info on Prodigy back in the AONO days.

Anyways, went off the ranch a bit there... point being, I liked that they went through the Girls phase at the time, but at the same time I can understand them not wanting to do it again, so having a somewhat "typical" sounding Prodigy track as the lead single, I wouldn't start screwing yet if you don't like it, I'm sure there will be plenty of other tunes you will dig. Liam's never done an album in only one style.

I'm listening to it again. Now it sounds like Atari Teenage Riot. Jesus Christ.
