Ugh, wunderground is a satire site... i know the dude who created that site. All he does is surf the internet and find what a few folks are moaning about and writes an article based around it. That's the whole basis of his site. To write something for the minority of haters out there. If he wrote something that most people agreed upon and was positive, it wouldn't be a wunderground article.

I put Nasty in my top three singles.
SMBU and Breathe comes before that.
Yes i think BGAT sucks. But i find Omen and Firestarter to be much more annoying to listen to.
This sounds nothing like Omen, its too dark.

what disappoints me most about the single is, not hearing any of liams trademarks..its looped up, no care or detail in the beats and actually sounds like ableton lego blocks music. It just aint got the funk. The break is dull and boring, The synths could have been rejected from a pendulum track..
Been a fan from my early teens and now in my 30s. Haven't HATED anything I've heard from the Prodge over the years, and I DO like Nasty...But it didn't have that same staying power with me that previous debut singles have. I repeated play over and over the day it came out, and since moved back on to listening to everything else in my library as I patiently await March 30.
It's the band's sixth album, and by album six, most bands are past the stage of doing anything really ground-breaking (although QOTSA certainly impressed with their latest, so it's still possible).
I don't expect a huge revolution in their sound, but I think the main disappointment in Nasty comes from the fact that it's been six years, endless promises, teasing and dicking around on Instagram, and when you build something up as that big, people develop wild expectations. Then when a song drops that sounds like an outtake from the last album, regardless of its quality, it's gonna be somewhat of a letdown.
That said, there are still 14 others, and I'm very much looking forward to the album and catching a live show if they come my way. I'll never quit this band.

Looks like the official Nasty single comes out February 9th according to the new Guardian interview. Seems like the real album writing process only started within the last few years. Says there were a few false starts and claims there is about two hard drives worth of scrapped stuff.

Actually they did almost the same with aono. They started with a musical direction then to go to another one, without keith and maxim and more electronic and 80's style.

Now for nasty.. its probably a testament to liam that since 97 prodigy fans are still having the same arguments about the band now as they where then. Im 36 now and I’ve seen the prodigy shape shift and go through every possible phase possible. I can remember when FOTL was released most of the old fans from the jilted/experience era wasn’t really into fotl.. actually they thought it was shit..but heres the thing, they where old fans not really willing to get on board with this slightly dumber stadium sound. Now i find myself in the same situation as these old fans.. I’m just not feeling “nasty” at all, i think its a dumbed down sound, I also think the reason why is because I’ve outgrown the band, I hear none of the production values i used to love about liams music, the funk, the finesse, the intelligent and playful arrangements. His music used to be genuinely hard as nails.. nasty sounds disappointingly weak, especially beats wise.. yes its mixed and EQ’d well.. as you’d expect from pumping money into mastering it.. but it kind of reminds of a bodybuilder that skips leg day..as for anyone that uses “this will kick live”.. thats usually the default response from a prodigy fan who knows.. this is shit.. I heard exactly the same about BGAT .. utterly poo, so save your “live” talk.. To me, Liam was always an amazing ideas guy, his vision for music was set him apart from the rest hopefully with the new album, Nasty won’t be a taster f whats to come.. as i feel..It will be their last album. Ironically, Nasty is liams most cynical record, not only lacking a real british sound, having a british sound was something he’s always been proud to boast about. (nasty is borderline dumbed down US Festival EDM) its obviously and painfully taking the “if its not broke don’t fix it” appraoch.. it trys so hard to be “Omen” its slightly embarrassing.. but hey.. One of the most intelligent posts I've ever read here. I think many of us who are in our mid 30's share similar opinions.

Let us first hear whole album and the judge about the prodigy and future of the band. Omen and imd were very commercial, nasty is not, and I dont think nasty is a great choice for first single. But I like the track and I really hope and I belive deep inside that this album is much better than nasty. Who knows maybe nasty is the weakest spot of the album. They will release a new single before album to promote it, I am sure of it. And soon we will hear rise of the eagles. Then we will judge. I remember fans talking about IMD that its their last album and its not they recorded tdime, comparing imd track to pendulum and omen to cheesy pop track but that album sold well, grow their audience and Im sure this album will do that too. So im not sure if this is their last. The boys have energy in them and they are not that old, they are in the early 40s, they are still capable to do a great live show and Liam is capable of producing. So lets wait and see what The Day Is My Enemy will bring us.

x1 This post is on the money.. I think Nasty is worse than BGAT. Hoping for a lot better on the album.
