and what's the problem with the new album? quite fraknly I can't imagine how to be dissapointed with it while being not dissapointed with AONO or IMD (which I both value much)

Been a fan for 24 years and Ive not been this excited over tunes for a long time.


Rebel Radio, Invisible Sun, Wall of Death, Rok-Weiler and the simply epic Beyond the Deathray!

What I love about the album is that it flows together, when we started hearing the tracks in isolation from Nasty everyone had a different take on them.......now it fits for me.


Rebel Radio is pure Prodge tuneage and Beyond the Deathray is Master H at his atmospheric best!

First of all: I absolutely love this album! It actually exceeded my expectations; after IMD, I (to my shame) grudgingly accepted that Howlett's creative juices were running dangerously low: I almost had to force myself to like a lot of IMD - I was disappointed - even if it took me a while to admit that. The overall sound of IMD was 'cartoony' (although energetic and entertaining) in comparison to AONO (which I started to appreciate more after IMD). TMTTH, Omen and WOF (despite the distorted bass and incomprehensible beats) were the best tunes on the album (for me anyway).

This new album - wow! I wasn't expecting this level of quality at all! Howlett has brought back an overall sound that takes the best bits from AONO and TFOTL (especially the breaks) while retaining the energy of IMD (which was one of the most commendable elements of that album). These songs are massive - all (well, most) with well-defined beats that hit as hard as anything on the TFOTL. I never thought I would say this, but I think I might have found another Prodigy album that rivals (and depending on future listens, maybe even betters) the big hitters - TFOTL and MFTJG - as best Prodigy album ever. I know some people have made reference to this on previous comments - one poster hailed TDIME as the best album so far while other disagree - but hey, the fact that we can even make such a claim is testament to the sheer quality of this album! My perception at this early juncture - is that while TDIME may not have a Firestarter, Smack or Breath (in terms of individual strength - although this may change with future listens to TDIME - some of these tunes are monsters!) - but as a collective of tracks, I find TDIME stronger (and more diverse - Medicine!! - absolute class!! And Invisible Sun - curious subtleties that have not been seen since the Narcotic Suite) than TFOTL (which in some ways is a (super-strong) one-trick pony in terms of production - live-esque percussion and beats). TFOTL contained killer tunes but other tracks like Serial Thrilla, Narayan and Fuel My Fire don't quite sit well with the common claim of 'best album ever.'

When I listened to this album for the first time today I couldn't believe how strong the second half of the album was! I can't think of any other album (save MFTJG) with such a strong second act: after Death Ray, the album not only retains the quality - but some of the biggest tunes are on the latter-end of the mix: Road Blox, Get Ur Fight On (which I just love, by the way - massive, massive tune - even with the TMTTH beats and bass) - then the left of centre and totally unexpected Medicine and Invisible Sun which add depth and diversity to an album over-flowing with raw energy and violent beats (some of which remind me of the AONO V1 tracks - not a bad thing for me!). I completely agree with the Massive Attack comparison (I thought of the Mezzanine album straight away when I heard Invisible Sun) to Invisible Sun. WOD was the perfect closer following Invisible Sun and Medicine - absolutely perfect - completely worked for me in the context of the album. Strongest and most progressive finale to a Prodigy album since MFTJG.

Brilliant album - exceeded all my expectations. Didn't think Howlett had it in him.

Little bit of trivia for y'all. This was the tracklist when the album was originally titled 'Rebel Radio'. Got changed in late October.

On their own, the four tracks released prior to the album didn't absolutely blow me away, and it totally reduced my expectations for the album

Ratings (subject to fickle change of course):

TDIME: 9 Sounds much better with its friends. It was a 7 on its own, but it's a brilliant track on the album. In context.

Nasty: 7 Still doesn't do as much for me as I'd hoped, but again, sounds a bit better in context. Doesn't help that I just think of Pixie Lott every time I hear this (she did a track with the same name - and hot though she is, she's a tad distracting of the mood),

Rebel Radio: 9 This one may go to 10 in time - it's very close.

Ibiza: 9 Another very strong track which may go to 10.

Destroy: 25 Jesus t*ttie f*ckin' Christ. Everything we love about the Prodigy in one track.

Wild Frontier: 8 Another one which strengthens on the album.

Rok Weiler: 25 Utterly brutal and Prodigy at their purest (that stupendously brilliant ending is sadistically short)

BTD: 10 Beautful. The Omen Reprise of TDIME

Rhythm Bomb: 2 Sorry to say I really dislike this. Credit to Liam for trying a curve ball, but I can't stand it. The album's turkey for me. It might grow in time. But I can't see it. Not sure if he's parodying the kind of trashy modern DJ music he's been slagging off in the press and in Wall of Death's lyrics. If so, it works on that level. But it's an instant skip and a waste of a track IMHO.

Roadblox: 9 Huge fun - old-school Prodigy which is a little lighter and a little IMD-esque. Really dig it.

Get Your Fight On: 8 Close to 9. Very Take Me to the Hospital with that beat.

Medicine: 10 Beats are absolutely collosal in this.

Invisible Sun: 9 This is a curve ball which nails its target. Very different to anything they've ever done and original. And it works.

Wall of Death: 9 This is another one which benefits from being around its buds. Far better in context than on its own.

Rise of the Eagles: 8 Very Fuel My Fire, very angry and punky - not a masterpiece of course, but a fun listen.

JMO - don't flame me.

Time to give it a spin in this order, then.
