It's been years since I've last posted in here, but I'm back. Kinda.

I just wanted to say that TDIME slays. Got my physical copy in the mail yesterday and immediately put it into my sound system to hear the difference between the mp3s and the actual CD. And it's HUGE. All of the songs totally kill when listened to properly and I must admit it's their best work since TFOTL. Not a single song I dislike. Been a fan since 1994, and I'm still not disappointed the slightest bit.

Don't know if people read track by track reviews carefully .. so I just try to share my overall feelings about TDIME.

What I've learned: Don't judge a Prodigy album if you just listened to it on in-ear headphones.

Now I played my TDIME vinyl copy on my hi-fi ... this music needs "a room" literally to show its cojones.

Still don't like: Rhythm Bomb, Ibiza, Invisible Sun

But that means: There are plenty of great tracks remaining .... and I think TDIME is Prodigy's 3rd best album .. and this is the best possible compliment for this record ...

It's the first time since FOTL that I really "feel" the music when played loud in my "music room" .. I would even dance to TDIME .. or should I say "air punch" ... it's really fun and full of energy!

Been listening to this album intently for a few days now. A few things stand out to me.

Firstly: I am enjoying this album a lot more than I did when I first listened to IMD. There are very few tracks that I skip on this album, and I don't have to force myself to like any of the songs on this album (like I did on IMD - IMD was an album that never felt right to me - like it was only semi-complete. There was something that just didn't feel credible about it. I don't know whether it was the production, the direction, the tone or the tracks themselves or even the cartoon feel of some of the tracks - but TDIME feels very credible in every sense - an album that you would be proud to bash over the head of other electronic producers. I didn't feel as confident with IMD -a little embarrassed in places to be honest) - I feel these songs like I used to feel new Prodigy tracks pre-AONO. This is exactly what I was hoping for - no, I'll be honest, TDIME exceeded my expectations - I didn't think it would be this good - this consistent. I really take my hat off to Howlett. I didn't think he had a 'Destroy,' 'Rebel Radio' or (completely unexpected) 'Medicine' in him. The whole album rocks - it feels complete. The end of the album provided some welcome nooks and crannies (Medicine and IS) before closing with the perfect destroying tune: WOD (a tune that sounds even better in the context of the album).

My order is as follows for the Prodigy albums:

MFTJG
TDIME
TFOTL
AONO/IMD/Experience (Can't really make my mind up on these three although I suppose IMD>AONO>Experience represent the order in which I regularly listen to each album)

I know a lot of people hold up TFOL as one of the penultimate albums in their back catalogue: I, however, have always felt that album to be a live representation of the band - a sound that inadvertently results in it possibly being the least 'easy' of all their albums to listen to (outside of their live environment). 10 tracks, (albeit 3 killer tunes in Smack, Breathe and FS) - one of which is a raw cover of Fuel my Fire - and the never-quite-sure-it-worked Serial Thrilla (a mix between Breathe and FS). This album represented Liam's vision of the Prodigy (in its punk-rock incarnation - albeit with dope beats) taken to its viable and logical limits. BGAT took the band over the edge when he took one step too far in that direction - a strange mistake to make considering he was already aware that Moby made a similar mistake with Animal Rights (something Howlett discussed in interviews during TFOTL era). In the new album, Howlett strikes the optimum balance of electronic and guitar-based composition - I'm not sure if he quite achieved that with SOME of the tracks on TFOTL. I think Howlett was still getting to grips with where he wanted the Prodigy to go (musically). I remember reading an interview (in The Face) in 1996 where he asked the interviewer which direction would he like the Prodigy to go to in a musical sense (this was slap bang in the middle of production of TFOTL). He seemed hesitant about (after Firestarter) where to go next - to ditch the 'old' Prodigy or to carry on in the same vein as FS and Breathe - a direction that resulted in Serial Thrilla (when Howlett consciously tried to write a track that represented the energy of both Firestarter/Breathe). It was a very difficult album for him to finish. I recognise TFOTL as one of their hardest, uncompromising albums - in terms of production and impact but I feel TDIME is a much more consistent and interesting collection of tracks - many of which offer more diversity (in production, direction and 'tone'). Diversity in itself isn't a reason for TDIME to be considered superior to TFOTL (as a reason in itself) as AONO offered an experimental and diverse array of tracks too (that pulled in different directions) - but that experimentation was not fully realised in the same way as TDIME. AONO failed to pull of its intentions. TDIME does. TDIME offers an array of strong, confident, hard-hitting, well-executed tracks (most of which hit the mark) - something which I feel (despite TFOTL having some tracks that are individually stronger) elevates it above TFOTL. Plus, I enjoy listening to TDIME a lot more - it really satisfies - better every time I listen t it.

The Day Is My Enemy is the best The Prodigy album for me.
Also, I hope that unreleased new tracks like AWOL, Jetfighter, Dogbite will be released like EP, or somehow.

FINALLY I listened the album. I don't know what should I say just after 1 listen, but it's a very good and strong album. But it's a shame that Rise is not on the album, especially in the beginning of the track it has the same helicopter sound like in the end of The Day. It means Rise is originally meant to be on the album right after The Day. Rise is one of my fav tracks from the album so I sad that it's just shit digital bonus track.
I'm a bit disappointed that the hardest tracks are The Day and WOD and no other tracks like thsese songs. Rebel Radio, Destroy are had tracks but not as complex tracks like The Day and WOD. They are a bit simple. I'm also a bit disappointed with Roadblox and Rok-weiler, I thought they are more heavy and rockier, but they are too electronic. Anyway they are good tracks.
Oh and Deathray gave me goosbumps. It's really like Omen Reprise but more darker. Invisible Sun also a great track and it's totally feels a closer track. Rhythm Bomb is better than I thought after the moaning in this forum. I like this track, it's phat!
GYFO is not bad but it's not only Hospital recycling, but WF too, I have mixed feeling about GYFO.

Maybe the album is a bit longer than needed, but it's a very massive album.

I remember Rise was in the early 13-track tracklist. Anyone has that tracklist? I want to know the Rise was after The Day or not.

I asked Liam who does the vocals on Invisible Sun and he answered

Oh and I forgot one thing. Sadly I can't feel Flint's and Maxim's presence on the album. The vocals are too quiet and distorted and they have very minimal lyrics on each track, just a few words and a few sentences per track. The last full vocal track that has full lyrics through the track was BGAT and I very miss that type of tracks.

Destroy and Rebel Radio are structurally more complex that both WOD and (especially) The Day. The Day is one continuous loop with Martina Topley and an 8 bit melody breaking up proceedings now and again. It's more of an intro than an actual track (IMO). Rebel Radio, in particular, is well sequenced and broken up into distinct sections. WOD has its own sections too - but its nowhere near as dynamic as either Rebel Radio or Destroy.

I love both The Day and WOD by the way. The perfect opener and closer. Simple and hard-hitting.

Have you listened to the official release yet?
Or are you still going by the original leak that came out?
Because the vocals are really quiet, lost in the mix, on original leak from iTunes
Dunno if it had to do with the Itunes leak being lower stream quality
But there's a CD rip out there and the vocals are much more present, fuller, and layered
especially on Rebel Radio, there's all of these crazy vocal FX going on in the background
