about ten years ago when I did audio engineering this was the termed coined for those who claim to hear differences in audio quality. The truth is some of us can hear the difference and others cannot, however it isn't something we've picked up straight away and has taken some time.

I think it's more that your basic music listener doesn't have the vocabulary to explain the difference.
I don't mean that to be insulting or meaning anyone is superior over another.
You have people who can sit in a car and hear if it has issues when its running.
It's just knowing what to look for, learn how quality affects certain frequencies.
I think everyone can actually hear it, they just don't know what to exactly look for and how to convey it in words.
If someone sat down with them and was able to help point on out what to listen for and explain it clearly with comparisons, everyone would hear the difference.
It's just training your ears to hear what quality differences does to audio.
I've been working with audio since 1999, so I've had some time experiencing the growth of higher quality audio.
But I truly believe anyone and everyone can hear the difference with a little guidance and you don't need lots of money or high end equipment to hear it.

What I mean about Destroy is if it would have been released as the first single it would have torn the world a new one. It would have been nice to watch the reactions then.

The melody actually delivers what the title states, recurring quality of Liam.

Thanks for the posts about sound quality. I'd like to think that I could usually hear the difference though. I played the guitar for years, have just got back into learning how to make my own music, and I know for a fact that the earphones I have aren't as good as previous ones I used to own (bass quality for a start is reduced.) So it could at least partly be that some of the finer aspects of the sound just aren't coming across with the equipment I have (earphones are plugged into cheap speakers too.)

I'd maybe hear it pretty easily with upgraded speakers/earphones, but at the same time can get that it might be something I'm not noticing as well, and that I need to train my ears more. I'll hopefully find out if I get some better equipment here shortly.

I actually find it shocking that a file size over three times as big isn't making a difference that I can notice, so am definitely planning on upgrading my stuff now.

I love the way that Ibiza is having a dig at some DJ's, then Destroy is lined up right after it. Almost as if to say "this is how you do it." Brilliant.

The difference between lower and higher quality tracks is mainly in the wideness of the soundstage provided and the position of instruments in it as well as frequencies in the song, particularly higher frequencies (over 8kHZ) as quality goes up.
If a producer doesn't use the soundstage properly then quality would only be different in the frequencies.

Liam does use the soundstage and does an exceptionally good job with it.
(check out BOSS SE70, that's what he used since Experience, among others)

Cheers, and have saved a page on that instrument, will read later! I am hearing a bit more distortion than I'd like to as well, am sure it's the earphones/speakers. Concerns about distortion to me are usually a telltale sign that something isn't working right (usually head/earphones.)

It's not heavy distortion in the way that you'd instantly know, but I still think it's the stuff I'm using. Earphones are Sennheiser but they were a cheap pair and I've had them for a while. They've taken a bit of a battering, so probably related to that at least in part.

Mix Jericho.

Oh come on. Jericho is and always has been one of my top 3 Prodigy tracks...

On a side note, reading this topic, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who despises AONO.

'Tis a great track. Lots of balls in da beat, third closest to hyperspeed after out of space in that respect.

Why, thank you.

You look mad in yours.

That's great, Sennheiser are known for high fidelity concerning soundstage depiction. Just be sure to get a set of cans, not in-ear ones.

Even if you can't tell or hear the difference between mp3 and flac, your ears will be thanking you for listening to the highest quality in the long row! Your ears get more quickly tired listening to low quality audio over time! You might notice it in the head too!

Jericho Rocks.
But what about music reach? I always loved that one.

I think audio quality in prodigy music is mostly felt, and heard on the atmospheric tunes.

If WOD bad then all of Prodigy's tracks are bad. :) WOD is essential Prodigy.

Disagree. Not saying it's a bad tune, but it's nothing like anything else of theirs, it relies on big booming bass for its heaviness while all their "classic" tracks are about the beats.
