jonyintheplace wrote: I'd rather have more unreleased tunes than crappy or average remixes. Well, I imagine Liam reading this topic, being all like, "hell, can I have some time for family or whatever, between touring and fulfilling their wishes?" Making music takes time, and Liam is trying to release some new stuff. And we bash him again for doing precisely what we wanted him to do. Cause one track so many people wanted to hear, still isn't enough. And why are the remixes there? He has to fill the EP with some more new stuff than 1 new track... edit - and in the likely case I misunderstood your post a bit, and you meant the new remixes coming up from FFS and SC... there has to be a reason the band needs remixes. Now let's hope the reason is an EP and not a single

What I mean is that, back in the old times, we use to have top b sides, every single was worth it, specially in the Experience era, but the remixes between 94-97 were ace and Scienide, Rat Poison, Molotov Bitch, Rhythm Of Life etc...were awesome b sides.
Remixes since that infamous Audio Bully's one have been awful most of the times, with the odd exception (Sub Focus, Liam's tweaks of his own tunes and a few more). He used to be more selective at choosing remixes imho

With most bands later in their career, the b-sides aren't as good. That's because the band is focusing on making a solid album, not worrying about the extra stuff. It's pretty commonplace for b-sides to take a hit like this. Look at The Chemical Brothers b-sides from their earlier albums compared to their newer ones. You'll see/hear the same thing. It's different when you're a young artist to when you're successful one well off into your career. With older artists, the work is put into tracks meant for the album.

Comanche's The Big Gundown, right? Might be the most overrated tune in their history. jonyintheplace wrote: Remixes since that infamous Audio Bully's one have been awful most of the times, with the odd exception (Sub Focus, Liam's tweaks of his own tunes and a few more). He used to be more selective at choosing remixes imho Pendulum's Voodoo People remix came out at the perfect time for both parties, and was probably the last "good" remix, but yeah since then it's been a case of picking out whoever's popular at the time to do a remix in their chosen genre to appeal to a wider audience, quality be damned.

Commanche overrated? Man I think it kicks more ass than rhythm of life.
Speaking about overrated b-sides...Voodoo Beats. Everyone going mad about it untill it actually got released. Sometimes a studio version just isn't the live tune you remember it to be!
May very well be the case for A W O L...

I like Voodoo People just as much as anyone... But I love how Voodoo Beats booms. It rocks live but losing that "Style unorthodox" vocal sample and being Maxim-less hinders the studio version slightly. But Voodoo Beats is a banger when its played properly live I'm a little bored after all of the years hearing the regular Voodoo People... maybe it's the four on the floors that gets dull after a while now. Not that I dislike the track, just preference after many years. Voodoo Beats represents Liam production style during FotL, which I love. The sounds of Jilted and FotL meets the Chems and Prodigy... banger!
