Spectre Opening Sequence Will Be 'Biggest In Bond History'30 March 2015 The opening sequence of the 24th James Bond film Spectre, currently filming in Mexico City, is set during the national Day Of The Dead festival. It will, claims long-time Bond producer Michael G Wilson, be "the biggest opening sequence we've ever done, maybe the biggest sequence we've ever done". Coming from a series which has previously sent its hero off a cliff on a motorbike to freefall into a crashing plane, that's no mean feat. Speaking from behind the scenes on location, where Empire has spent the weekend watching the Bondian shenanigans unfold, Wilson went on to say that the traditionally explosive pre-title sequence wasn't just going to be a massive on-screen event, but that it was also logistically huge. "The whole vision that Sam Mendes has come up with is very exciting and amazing," he told us. "We've got 1500 extras in Day Of The Dead costumes and make up and we've occupied the centre of Mexico City for days. The only thing that's come close to it was putting on the carnival in Rio in Moonraker." The scene kicks off Spectre's story in predictably thrilling fashion, with exploding buildings, a pulse-quickening foot chase through the Day Of The Dead parade and a fight inside a helicopter, which will then perform what promises to be one of the most spectacular stunts in Bond history. The newly-released stills above give a flavour of what to expect, including rooftop gun battles and the mysterious Estrella, played by the recently-cast Stephanie Sigman. Empire witnessed the scene being put together, and can testify that jaws will be dropped come Spectre's October 23 release date. Filming will soon shift to Morocco and back to Pinewood, having already visited London, Rome and various delightful ski resorts in Austria. http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=43845

Box Office: 'Spectre' Already Breaking U.K. Records29 October 2015 The 24th Bond film took in $8.8 million Wednesday, setting another record and putting the movie's total at $24.5 million since opening Monday night. After a stunning $6.4 million opening night in the U.K. on Monday night, 'Spectre' continues to outpace its record-breaking predecessor 'Skyfall' at the U.K. box office. On Tuesday, the 24th Bond film amassed $9.2 million on its first full day in cinemas, the biggest Tuesday gross of all time in the U.K. and bigger than 'Skyfall's first-day gross three years ago. And on Wednesday, it took in a record-breaking $8.8 million for an early cume of $24.5 million. That's the biggest Wednesday gross ever in the history of cinema in the UK. From Sony and MGM, Spectre launched in the U.K. more than a week before its Nov. 6 debut in North America. Alongside the intense speculation over who will be named the next Bond after Daniel Craig — who hasn't yet confirmed whether or not he'll return for another franchise outing — and the film's plot, much of the discussion surrounding 'Spectre' had been over whether it could top 'Skyfall', which became the highest-grossing 007 of all time in 2012, with $1.1 billion in global ticket sales. 'Skyfall' commanded a $32.3 million opening weekend in the U.K. in October 2012, shattering several records at the time, including the Saturday attendance record, as well as posting the No. 2 opening weekend in history, behind 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2'. The U.K. results after just a day and a night suggest that 'Spectre' is indeed on track to complete a Bond mission many thought would be too difficult. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/b ... -uk-835079

'Spectre' Smashes Records with Opening, Bond Bow Breaks 'Skyfall'1 November 2015 All this past week, James Bond has been battling bad guys and breaking daily records at the UK box office. Now, at the end of its first seven days, Eon, MGM and Sony Pictures’ Spectre has a total $80.4M across just six territories. Naturally leading is the UK with a benchmark-setting $63.8M. That came from a full week including previews. Comparatively, the last 007 pic, 2012’s Skyfall, opened to $77.7M in 25 markets with no UK previews. But that included the powerhouse plays of France, Russia and Korea. With Daniel Craig’s new Aston Martin DB10 set to pull up to those majors next week and beyond, the Spectre bow this frame bodes very well for the rest of the international rollout — including North America. Breaking it down, the UK and Ireland bonded with Spectre to the tune of £41.7M ($63.8M) since previews began Monday night local time. That makes it the biggest seven-day opening ever, zooming past the record set by 2004’s Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban which was also released on a Monday, to £23.88M at the time. Importantly, it also sets a new record for the highest seven-day gross in UK box office history — a title that was previously held by Skyfall. Notably, in the Friday-Saturday-Sunday UK frame, Spectre edged out Skyfall in local currency with £20.4M ($31.2M) compared to Bond 23’s £20.1M ($31M in today’s dollars). The play was on 2,500 screens at 647 cinemas making Spectre the widest release ever in the UK and Ireland. With a $5M gross, IMAX was a huge part of that. There were 40 IMAX screens in the UK and a further seven in the other five territories. Spectre led the company to a new personal best per-screen opening average of $105K. In the UK alone that average hops to $110K, beating The Dark Knight‘s $100.2K. Next week, Spectre adds another 537 IMAX screens, including in North America, and a week later picks up a further 285 including in China. Outside the UK, the Netherlands packed $3.7M (3.3M euros) into Sam Mendes’ sophomore Bond outing. That bested Skyfall‘s record and made for a $3.9M cume to date including previews. In the Nordic region, where MGM is distributor, Spectre loomed large with $12.7M. Skyfall records fell in both Finland (2.35M euros/$2.63M) and Norway (24.4M krone/$2.88M). Denmark was a milestone for the biggest three-day opening of all time at 28.1M krone ($4.21M), also surpassing Skyfall. In Sweden, Spectre made 24.95M krone ($2.97M) — 30% bigger than Skyfall. Spectre continues rollout this coming week in about 40 markets where there’s a virtually clear path to the turnstiles. https://deadline.com/2015/11/spectre-bo ... 201601884/

I watched Spectre this Tuesday at Bromley. Still thinking about it. It stays with me for some time as I remember Skyfall did. The thing is I'm a big James Bond fan and I love Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes and these few films they made is just fantastic.
This was the most Bond film Craig has ever done out of his 4 outings. Q, M and Monneypenny is in there and doing their thing, there are more gadgets but they are not over the top and works very well. Ralph Fiennes is very good. The opening scene starts with a 5 minute continuous complex shot (nod to "Birdman"?). It's just full packed movie expierience.
I'm not saying the movie is 10/10 perfect, I consider it a solid 8. And Skyfall is a 9/10 for me. Go see it.

Saw it last night. One of the worst 007 movies and for sure the worst played by Daniel Craig. Weak plot, badly written characters, unexplained threads etc. Dissapointed especially about Waltz character. Opening scene is good.

25th Bond film confirmed for 8 November 2019 release. Daniel Craig will be back most likely for the last time.
No word on who's the director, Sam Mandes won't be back though.
My dream would be Christopher Nolan. He always stated that he dreamed about directing a Bond movie. And the time is perfect, he just released Dunkirk and his shedule is free for this.
