it's more than just a download program!
it's a (tiny) program that lets you look at and download other peoples music directly from their shared files on their hard drives (and at the same time share yours).
it's the best thing since sliced bread mate!
lots of music sharers have the usual middle of the road stuff on, but this is a collection of people sharing files who have better taste shall we say.....
just search for whatever you want (individual track or album) and you'll probably find it. as long as you share and say thanks you'll wonder how you lived without it!
download it here http://www.slsknet.org/
as you can see from this thread it's sometimes a pain in the ass, but most of the time it's a right old gold mine.

Yeah it's the best program if you're looking for Drum & Bass, Electronic, Dance music. The users that use Soulseek have really great collections. It's funny b/c some of my (lame) friends that listen to boring shit music always ask me what I use to d/l music, and I tell them Soulseek then they try it and are like "I couldn't find anything on there". I'm like "that's b/c you're searching for SHIT!" lol.

it's also good for sound samples in wav format as well. have come across some by mistake a few times.
oh, and comedy stuff,
and strange versions (found william shatner's 'lucy in the sky with diamonds' there! )
and believe or not comics if that's your thing! stumbled onto someone once who had scanned copies of every issue of 200oad
couple of slsk tips for you stas.
1. after you've hit 'search' for the term you're after you get the list of files. left click on the D/L speed tab and it puts them in order with highest download speed at the top
2. right click on the user name for 'browse user files'. you can find stuff in their folders directly that haven't shown up in your search (the search is a bit strange. it seems to scan files from random regions or countries as it likes)
3. have a chat with the person you're sharing with and recommend stuff you've got. they probably aren't sharing all their files and will add stuff you need to their folder if they like you! they'll also tell you if they're going to leave their computer on over night which saves you waking up and seeing that nothing has downloaded because the user exited slsk just after you last checked it!
4. this is a good one i found out by accident. if you've got an mp3 with 'incomplete' at the front of it and the user's been away for ages, simply take it out the album folder it's in and put it in your main downloads folder, copy and paste the name of it (without the 'incomplete' bit) into the search window and then download just that file. it will then complete that file from where the other user stopped! you can also rename it (exactly or it won't work) to match the same file if they're written it differently ('01_uncle_fucker' instead of '01-unckle fucker' for example) and it will do the same thing.
5. tell them about brainkiller (don't forget to tell them they need to register to see the 'music downloads' topic). if they're on slsk they've already shown they've got good taste and would fit in well here with us!
anyone else got any other tips?
