The constant complaints from fans is nothing new. I remember fans complaining about 'MFTJG' due to the introduction of guitars. Some fans hated the 'punk' direction with Keith singing on 'Firestarter'. A lot of fans didn't like it when lyrics were introduced. They wanted The Prodigy to keep producing instrumental rave tracks. People's tastes change. I used to really like The Chemical Brothers but they went more and more House music. I pick and choose what I want to listen to from them now. I don't post on their fan forums constantly about how I don't like them as much anymore. Who cares about what someone else likes or doesn't like in music? People should listen to what they do like. People seem to spend more of their time on what they don't like rather than what they do like.

Partly agreed. If you feel that your favourite band has become a caricature of themselfes, then I think it's okay to verbalise that on a half yearly basis.
It's not that someone who's following them around for 25 years isn't aware by now that they're a sonic chamelion most likely to change their colour with every album. On the contrary. I think that's what all of us have in common, we want them to stay experimental and challenge themselfes. So obviously there's gonna be stuff people don't like if they just keep experimenting long enough. But: I, for example, am disappointed because they do the opposite now. They stopped changing. It's gone formulaic and -quite franky- has become a bit of a caricature here and there. Not full on, but we're getting there, slowly.
I guess I am still glad they do what they do, but there is a day when they've said and done everything and that day is not too many moons away anymore.

And with that I would like to apologize for slightly derailing the news section, although there's not much news anyway. Get on with it!

When its about Liam it is always the same. We have to take what he says with grain of salt. But Im more confident this time. First of all I always go back to that news from bmg https://www.bmg.com/uk/news/The-Prodigy ... o-BMG.html It specifically said album next year with burst of activities in 2018. Second, is making a timeline from the prodigy and other artists instagram profiles. The prodigy first announced new beats on that post EP posted december 2016. Then we hava a picture with Brother Culture studio bizznez or something like that in june 2017, in july we have a studio pic with Ragga Twins, also they posted a picture from Liams studio that later they deleted because you could see board with possible track names. Etc etc. You all got my point that Liam was busy in the studio at least for last half a year. He promised new beats and we got new beats literally on this gigs. Im not defending him, he also promised single this year but nothing. Call me desperate I dont mind

I agree with you. Also, don't forget the interview with theprodigy.ru in June where he said that he's messing around with 6 ideas (with 4-5 really good one's).

I wonder if Boom Tap was one of the 4-5 really good ones.

Electronic dance/party music overall is quite rock bottom in the world today. Mainstream sucks more then has ever before, nothing really interesting doesn't come out underground also.. something that would reach charts like prodigy did in the 90s...

EDM/mainstream electronic music is shit, but there's plenty of amazing underground music out there. Nothing is gonna chart like the 90s because that kind of musical marketing landscape is dead. The charts is for shit, unchallenging music you hear in a cell phone commercial. You're not gonna see underground chart because that whole MTV charting world is dead. The charts are for your pop radio artists. It's for the lowest common denominator music now. But don't knock the underground because there's tons of amazing producers out there doing great things. You just have to go find it and not have someone's best of chart tell you what is good. There's no MTV of today to summarize what is good for you and honestly good riddance. Even with MTV, only a small sliver of good music was being curated to you. Me personally, I never stop digging for new music and constantly searching and I've come across some awesome music. Sadly, it doesn't seem Liam does do much digging below the surface either since he's always going off on mainstream producers and DJs. I guess that's why I'm not so torn waiting for the next Prodigy release, I got plenty of great music to occupy my time with. I just can't agree with the whole "it's not how it used to be" thinking like music isn't good anymore. Yeah, what's consider commercial music isn't good anymore, but again, that is a tiny sliver of what is out there. I'd love to hear what Liam would write if he actually dug deeper into what's out there. But I guess like many people out there, they just don't want to take the time to search through the vast ocean of music that's out there. But in this day and age, charts are irrelevant to actual quality. Charts just prove you have the best marketing scheme and presence.

i hear you.
maybe i phrase it bit bad. this is true.. charts aren't same.. and quite frankly i don't care about them.
what i was meaning was there aren't not many bands now who come from somewhere interesting and their music reaches wider audiences.. reach people who doesn't lusualy listen music like it..

i too do search interesting music quite often and i don't complain at all that there isn't anything interesting to listen, but we need albums that bends boarders of some genre, creates new ones etc..
like Prodigy was... Justice - Cross, Gesaffelstein - Aleph ... there aren't many :)

1) we got old and cant get as easily excited/pleasantly surprised by a new song like we got 20+ years ago

2) The early and mid 90's was a bouffe with amazing original albums coming out each year.Like hollywood
there is a limit in every genre of music/movies for new ideas. Its much harder to create something unique
and original anymore.

3) when we were 14-16 yrs most of us cared mostly for pussy, music ect.Now you must make money
for you and your family, you have more responsibilities and a million things on your mind.
Its natural for music in general or movies to have a smaller impact on you.Its like you care less now.

4)I dont like everything Liam writes.I hate IMD except Piranha and WOF for example but i really really love WoD and TDIME.
I dont expect anymore to get an amazing album and worship almost all of the tracks like in the past.
But in my ears wall and the day are A quality tracks that deserve to be in every Prodigy album and thats enough 4 me.
After FOTL 2-3 amazing songs per album are enough 4me.

For those who dont like the new material,i respect them,i hate IMD they hate/love another album(except of LOOPMAN who is incorrigible)
But ...as the voice of wisdom and logic wrote...

The thing is, even rehashed Prodigy tracks still sound better than anything else I hear, which is probably the saddest part for me. I think we're just too old.

I think a single this year is looking unlikely now, but I haven't lost hope completely, yet... If no single this year then no new album early next year, it will be pushed to later on in the year and maybe a new single early next year instead? It's anyone's guess.

Pretty sure the new stage backdrop featured an image of St. Paul's Cathedral on the right. The backdrop is probably just London skyline.
