As I'm a sensible person and I don't want to listen to the new album yet, today I'm going to do an experiment. On My way to the gym I'm going to listen to TDIME (Japan edition tour 2 discs) and I also will bring the b sides and rarities cd that was released after (and which is selling for top banana on discogs).

After listening to this (that will include Wall Of Cocks and Nasty Naty I'm afraid), I will buy the album tomorrow (still don't know if they get extra things in Japan) and will compare accordingly.

Wish me good luck.

What artist is this catchy chipmunk vocal in Timebomb ?

can you hear it? tick tick tick can't stop
time bomb, the countdown is on, time is going out, yeah it's almost gone
time is running out, time is running out, yeah it's almost gone

[banging tune here]

WOOH! :Firestarter:

Wow, that seems like the type of track that I wouldn't normally listen to or like at all but I got really into it. Checked to hear the sample then when I hit back button to get here again was pissed off that I'd stopped the tune so went back.

It's sounds so 80's in a type of I don't know...maybe cheesy way that normally drives me mad but the synths and her voice just make it something I like. It's surely partly to do with the fact that I just got here again after listening to Timebomb Zone and I honestly think it's the best thing I've heard since FotL. I know that gets said so much but I have no doubt about that when I hear that track, it's just fucking amazing and nothing like what I expected from The Prodigy apart from the high pitched vocals. I think it reminded me of Photek or something when I first heard it with that bass/synth line. It has to be my fave on the album even though I like some of the others so much.

Some real ear worms on the album. I couldn't sleep for lyrics and tunes going round in my head.

You could just listen to the album for free on e.g. Spotify. That way if you hate the album you won't also regret having spent your money on it. If you like the album you'll be happy to buy it.

Same thing happened to me. When I got the album I only slept 3 or 4 hours that night. Quite an intense experience. Some tracks brought tears to my eyes for real man. I never thought we'd get something like this ever again.
Only real downside is that it's too short. I want more!

Had a good amount of listens now so thought I'd share my thoughts on the album.

Need Some1 - Didn't really like this at first, but it fits in well with the sounds on the rest of the album and it's kind of grown on me. Wish there were more of the sounds from 2:19 onwards. Still a short and quite weak track, probably the worst album opener of the seven, any of the rest would have been better. 5/10

Light Up The Sky - Love all the elements of the track but still a bit baffled on the arrangement. 7/10

We Live Forever - Perfect. 10/10

No Tourists - Sounds so big and empowering. Kinda wisha the lyrics said "No Tourists, No Souvenirs", would've been a nice little nod to the infamous track and fits in well with the tourist reference haha. Very good. 8/10

Fight Fire With Fire - I love the vocals on this. Still one of my favourites after listening the rest of the album. 9/10

Timebomb Zone - I don't understand the hype around this. Nice little beats, but to me it feels one of the weaker tracks on the album. Feel like its already given away all it had about a minute in. I know some other tracks do this, but I like it on them, just not on this. Better than Need Some1 though ha. 6/10

Champions of London - Nothing special, better than Run With The Wolves and Roadblox, usually skip them when they pop up on shuffle. I do like them live however, just the atmosphere I guess, so I'll probably feel the same about this when played live. 6/10

Boom Boom Tap - Always been a secret lover of this from the live recording, I'm glad it hasn't changed. Reminds me of Thunder Bay by Hudson Mohawke on steroids. 8/10

Resonate - This is one I was really looking forward to after hearing live. Packs a punch, 2:44 onwards is fantastic. Not a fan of whats happened to the vocals though. 8/10

Give Me a Signal - Love Barns Courtney's voice on this. A great outro track, though would work anywhere on the album. Love all the sounds in this, very strong. 9/10

Overall an 8/10. Great listen. Leaves me wanting more. A lot of these tracks will be played live and I can't wait to hear them. I don't think any amount of listens to any other track will get me more hyped up over We Live Forever. Of recent albums it was like when I heard the tracks Take me to the Hospital and The Day Is my Enemy for the first time. But feels on another level. I just want to keep listening and now I'm super excited for the 10th and 15th of November when I get to see them live.

These are just my views on the tracks of course so I know people may agree or disagree but I don't care. I only listen through my ears, not yours haha. But I still find it interesting to see how you all view the tracks and enjoy reading your thoughts/reviews.

I feel that this album was rushed

Tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 10 are decent, good or pretty good

The remaining tracks sound like demos

IMD and TDIME didn't have this demo feeling

Long-time lurker here.

The posts and reviews from the esteemed members of this forum had me very excited to get my hands on this album. So, my penny's worth...

The songs:

The songs I have been listening to the most (usually a good gauge of whether I like them or not) outside of the already released tracks such as LUTS (a solid Prodigy tune) and WLF (one of the my favourite Prodigy tracks in a long time) are No Tourists and Timebomb Zone.

I like the mid-tempo beats of No Tourists and the James Bond-esque strings and atmosphere of the track. It provides a nice contrast to the frenetic pace and energy of WLF. In some ways, some sections of the track actually remind me of a heavier, beat-driven version of Supremacy by Muse. I do wonder whether some additional sections or surprises (more vocals, for example) might have enhanced this track in some ways? As an album track, I think this works very well but I do wonder how this will go down live or whether it is dynamic enough to whip up energy in a crowd?

Timebomb Zone deserves every bit of hype it gets. I mean, wow! Like many of you guys have said already, I honestly didn't think Liam had this sort of tune in his locker anymore! A genuine delight much in the same vein of WLF (which I also love). I have been listening to this on repeat in the gym and on the car ride home this morning and it never gets boring (yet!). The beats, the production, the synths, the samples - everything, to me, is perfect! A bit short, mind, but what a concise slab of energy it is!

Tracks like WLF and Timebomb Zone seem to demonstrate that Liam has an inherent talent in producing these type of dance-able tracks. For many years, he seems to have consciously steered away from dipping into this type of sound but, wow, I would so love to hear a full album of Liam letting loose on these type of tunes. The guy has definitely still got it!

Boom Boom Tap and Resonate (which I rate less than the aforementioned tracks above) seem to share a similar sparse sense of production as well as drum noises and bass kicks (though at different speeds). I enjoy listening to Boom Boom Tap more than Resonate at the minute (which I have been struggling to get into). In addition to the use of Brother Culture's filtered vocals and the somewhat simplistic and empty nature of the tune, it feels a little incomplete (though it has been growing on me to a certain extent). Both of these tracks, I feel, could benefit from additional sections to provide a little more sonic variety.

Champions of London is growing on me. I agree with the comparisons made here with RWTW and Roadblox and I probably do rate COL slightly above both of those at the minute. At first, I didn't think a great deal of the vocal recordings in COL as it seemed to sound very demo-ish and unfinished, almost like it didn't go through any post-production. Liam did say he recorded the vocals in a hotel room in Belgium with some portable recording equipment and this, I think, is noticeable. However, the rawness of the vocals lend itself well to the overall vibe of the track and I have started to orientate myself more to the rhythm and groove of the track, enjoying it more every listen. Not a great deal of depth - even by prodigy standards, but it does represent a punky-type track that should go down well live with Maxim and Keith snarling out the lyrics.

From the feedback on this forum, I was expecting to fall in love with Give Me a Signal but have failed to connect with it like some of you guys have. The acid synth is nice but, to me anyway, seems to feel out of place a little on this track. I'm hoping this track will grow on me more.

Overall

The peaks of this album (WLF, LUTS, TBZ) are higher than the peaks of TDIME with tracks that stand out as definite leaders and stand-out singles (something I didn't think TDIME had). I do think, however, that as a collection of songs, TDIME had more consistent production values, less sparseness in the sonics, and slightly more refinement and polish (though WLF, LUTS, TBZ, No Tourists are extremely well produced).

Some posters here have talked about a demo-ish quality to some tracks and whilst I think that might be a bit harsh overall, there does seem a be a sense of 'incompleteness' to some of the tracks on NT. Makes me wonder whether Liam was working to a tight deadline - I mean, he has already spoke about some difficulty in finishing off some of the tracks, as well as making comments that he produced and wrote this album in a different way from previous recent efforts, so perhaps these could also be component factors in how the album came out production-wise. It is also worth noting that Neil McClennan has (I believe), for the first time since Experience, not been involved in the production of a Prodigy album. Neil has helped Liam lay down vocals in the past and perhaps Neil's absence on this occasion has meant less refinement and engineering of the sounds in NT with more 'rawness' in the production? Who knows.

I really like about half the album (probably the first half or so) so far on my early listens with other songs still growing on me. Resonate is probably the track I expected to like more than I do at the minute. For me, it is too early to say whether this is the greatest album since TFOTL (it could well be) but it certainly does have some tracks that are some of the best since that album.

Its been a while since I have been inspired to get my dancing shoes on but some tracks on this album have certainly made me feel like hitting a dance floor!

I wanted to write a first listen review but it’s impossible to do without compromising truth.
Properly assesing the quality of a Prodge tune (or an album) takes time.

One thing is for sure, Liam delivered. Time to digest.

Accurate "first" listen-reviews/evaluations about tunes are not that hard.
You can always train yourself for it in order to be extremely accurate to your predictions.

Full album reviews..? Whole different story...takes more time to.."decode" it.

Timebomb zone 10/10
We live Forever 9.5/10
Champions of London 9/10
Give Me a Signal 8/10
Light Up the Sky 7.5/10
Fight Fire With Fire 7.5/10
No Tourists 7.5/10
Need Some1 6.5/10
Boom Tap 5/10
Resonate 5/10

Two really good tracks, the rest is good, but it's just not in the Liam's radar.
Remember TMTTH and WD...they were massive...and thats whats missing to this album...lack of samples, bass..
10 years ago, Liam would put half of these tracks as on B-side or as a Bonus..or not even released them.
Time changes... :?

But I still like that we got some fresh material...

Just remember first version of Rockweiler, Jetfighter, Dogbite, they were massive, full of samples....

I really like Timebomb Zone and We Live Forever, and the rest of album is okay but I know that Liam could do it better :-|

Short and sweet:

Need Some 1 - pro: beats, synth - con: repetitive - 8/10
Light up the Sky - pro: catchy lyrics, synth glissando - con: repetitive, beats - 6/10
We live forever - pro: basically everything - con: could have a stronger hook - 9/10
No tourists - pro: that preview snippit part, soft melodic finish - con: feels surprisingly heavy, takes getting used to - 7/10
Fight fire with fire - pro: elaborate sound design, raw - con: nothing - 10/10
Timebomb Zone - pro: synth - con: somewhat week beats - 7/10
Champions of London - pro: rough, the better version of what RWTW could have been - con: nada, absolutely love that one - 10/10
Boom Boom Tap - pro: fresh beats, awesome synth - con: nothing much - 9/10
Resonate - pro: insane beat - con: should have stayed half time, the double time lacks energy - 9/10
Give me a signal - pro: lyrics go so well with the fat synth - con: don't know yet, feels like a grower - 7/10

That's a solid 82/100

My favourite since Fat of the land!!! (also I have a weird love for AONO but that doesnt cound)

strangest things happen overnight, I think I shouldn't give verdicts on particular tracks so soon because lots of them are growers, and in fact, my fav Prodge tunes are the ones I hated the most (I'm a person that was turned off by No good, Breathe, Girls...when I was my younger self, long ago) so it's all subject to change tomorrow and the day after tomorrow 8-)

my 5 favs for now :

Timebomb :gimp: :bomb: :gimp:
Champions
Signal
We live
Fight fire

Hating with passion :

Boom boom tap :jackoff:

Growing :

Need some1
Light up
No tourists

Give me a signal is an absolute monster
Maybe a sign of things to come?

Out of all the albums released since invaders, this is probably going to hold up the best on repeated listening..

anyway, no more moaning when our moans are only a negative stance on a very positive release!
Big ups Liam. the live shows will really benefit from these tunes

well what can i say, been a fan since 1991,now 42 years old and completely amazed on how bad this album is,WTL is the ONLY track that has that prodigy magic to it which takes me back to the days gone by

for what its worth(not much)here is my review

1.Need some one- awful nagging synth riff which is a total chore to listen to 2/10

2.light up the sky -a much better track with the classic 'their law' synth sound(from the roland jd-800),good but not great, to similar to 'the day is my enemy' 7/10

3.we live for ever - mind-blowingly good track, best on the album and proof that howlett can still write 90's style prodigy tracks, the synth lead is incredible 10/10

4.no tourists - casual prodigy atmospheric track, could be a grower 5/10

5.fight fire with fire - awful retarted vocal style meets liams trademark beats amongst boring dub style bassline, not good 4/10

6.Timebomb zone - brilliant intro with vocals that takes us all back to 1992,then it falls flat when the beat and bass kick in, missed opportunity on being brilliant 6/10

7.champions of london - typical modern prodigy track which has some half decent vocals but below average melodies 4/10

8.boom boom tap - great synth melody but ridiculous vocals and horn sounds throughout, dumb

9.Resonate - top class main riff and typical of liams great melody structure, amazing beats, this one is the second best 8/10

10.give me a signal - not bad, good 303 riffs but very average, could be a grower

hard to believe it has come to this really and very disappointing throughout despite some sounds coming back in from 'mftjg' and the 'experience' album :dunno:

liams worst yet
