I agree with much of your comment except for the part where you refer to Medusa'a Path as filler. That was actually a fine piece of work. Phoenix; Shoot Down; You'll be Under My Wheels (which Liam himself described as 'filler' in an interview at the time of the release of AONO) yes, Medusa'a Path, no.

Totally fair. I'm probably being a little too harsh.

Am I the only one that thinks timebomb zone is utter shite? Worst one on the album

I like it but id rank it 9th out of the 10 tracks

I think the title track No Tourists is really basic and bland.
Surprised to see so many ppl love it. The rest of the album is good or great. Boom Boom Tap also kicks ass. I like the trappy parts and hype on it.

Love it

Only negatives are 'Boom Boom Tap' & ' Resonate '

'No Tourists' is ok but feels like it should be on a different album

Long Time lurker from the Neko Days!
I only post album reviews on here when one comes out.

Bought Out of space when ik came out, was obsessed with MFTJG & FOTL, Was heartbroken when AONO came out (Girls and Action Radar are the only highlights imo)
IMD & TDIME have a few great tracks but as a whole i don’t realy love those albums as a whole.
I think Liam is truely creative GENIOUS and will end up in the echelons of Great producers, when Liam releases a piece of shit is still better then most stuff out there. That said imo Liam has had the tendency to produce tracks that sonically get on my nerves.
This trend started after the AONO era, where making hard sounding live bangers was the focus of his creative output.
In the golden days he wrote tracks that had a mix of rough and smooth, loud and soft, dark and light. Later on it was mostly dark, rough and loud, which doesn’t have to be a bad thing but it gets boring real quick.

On to the album review...

Need Some1. 6/10
Nothing spectacular. It balances on the edge of being annoying to my ear, but it grew on me. Gets better in the last third.

Light Up the Sky. 7.5/10
Not a fan of recycling iconic sounds from legendary tracks, it comes across as a bit desperate. Overall i like the track, the vocal sample is great, Maxim sounds good, live Banger for sure!

We Live Forever. 9/10
Excellent Track! The slowed down “forever” part is strange to my ear it reminds me of Daft Punk to much. But still it is a great track.

No Tourists. 9/10
Love it! Finally No reprise is used.
The Maxim lyrics are spot on great Track!

Fight Fire with Fire. 5/10
It reminds me of BGAT, Good production but i hate ho99o9’s vocals.

TIMEBOMB ZONE. 10/10
THE BEST TRACK LIAM HAS MADE IN THE LAST 20 YEARS!
This track kicks me in the feels like a motherfucker! It makes me HAPPY and Melancholy at the same time.
I wan’t to dance to this so bad! They better play this live when i see them next month! Thank you Liam!

Champions of London. 4/10
It is to much constant noise. Keith’s lyrics are painful.
Shame Maxim’s “Friction” bit got wasted on this track it’s really good.

Boom Boom Tap. 8/10
Fucking love it! The live version was forgettable but hearing the sample clearly it makes me laugh! That silly “ fuck you” bit is great. I like this track because it does something different.

Give me a Signal. 9/10
‘’Atomic Energy emergency’’ like 60s vocal quality of the lyrics.
And it is good to have Liam play with his 303 again.

Overall i think the album is better then IMD & TDIME, and even more important it is more creative then the last two albums.
I am a bit disappointed that Shahin Badar isn’t on the album.
Wonder what Liam was on about on that podcast with releasing more music next year, i’ve learned to not get my hopes up when it comes to Liam saying things
But for now i’m happy with what we’ve got.

Nobody mentioned that half of No Tourists track's sounds are made from Smack my bitch up sample (just different distortions and effects)

Honestly, NeedSome1 get's good just 30 seconds before it ends with that wobbly stretched out synth that makes the beat roll really nicely. And that's my biggest problem with it. I wish he pushed the tune further bc that's where it gets really interesting.

I totally get all the love/hate for this album. We all have our reasons. I love the production, compare it to IMD and TDIME in that sense and it just sounds better, not drowned in a wall of sound. I'm not a huge fan of some of the tracks on the album as they sound a bit hollow, rushed, unfinished.

I think the last time I was blown away by them was with Girls and Spitfire. Then slightly with Thunder and TDIME. But that's about it. I do hope he continues producing, his style was always super interesting to me.

Wow, had no idea they'd already uploaded all the album on their youtube, that's awesome. Was checking the upload page but saw nothing, it was in a playlist instead. Really glad BMG didn't have an issue with that.

^

I remember this frog having a ding-dong in my childhood.

False memory or did Youtube force the creator to edit away the life-maker?

"Civil unrest.. grab the bulletproof vest" would be the perfect line if you saw a naked frog with a microscopic log racing thru the city.

Really feels like the next evolution of the band.

It's like a horror-rave concept album.

Everything I could've hoped for and more.

nice read, welcome mate. Very much agree with the idea that he only writes bangers for the live shows, many of us miss some deeper and more thoughtful elements (The Narcotic Suite for example).
