For Record Store Day 2023, Cooking Vinyl are proud to release a special remix version of THE PRODIGY’s 4th album ‘ INVADERS MUST DIE’, their 4th consecutive UK No. 1 studio album (2009).

Eight of the ten tracks are making their first appearance on vinyl, and two of them are previously unreleased – a remix of their hit single ‘Omen’ by UK Beats / Metal trio PENGSHUi, plus a live version of ‘Take Me To The Hospital’ captured at Alexandra Palace, London. Five tracks were originally on the limited ‘Deluxe Edition’ CD Box Set of the original album, whilst three were bonus tracks on now deleted and highly collectable 12-inch or CD singles.

The Prodigy’s Liam Howlett put together the track list and it features new artwork designed by long-time Prodigy collaborator Luke Insect – the album is being made available as a limited edition release on 180g orange coloured vinyl in a gatefold sleeve.

Limited to 3000 copies

I were kinda hoping for the tracks from Choose or Die in full form for RSD this year, thought it would have been a good idea. Hope we do get to hear them at some point.

Why the F is every release, efter No Tourists, limited? As a collector, it is frustrating, even though it is a proper boring release, like everything else after No Tourists, you pay shitload of money, for a shitty remix, or an standard album with alternative cover. Nothing really new again. They keep releasing old tracks over and over again, and sometimes if we are "lucky", we get a "new" drum and bass remix, that sound completely like all the other d&b remixes. Sorry about the rage, but I had to let it out. Liam often said, they never look back when releasing something new, to keep it Fresh. Well it isn't really true is it.

3000 copies is not very limited to boring remix vinyl. Last years TDIME remix album was also 3k copies and its still widely available.

Record Store Day releases are always classed as limited edition. Most music is digital release only these days. Physical releases are usually reserved for albums.

The way the music industry is these days, most artists make very little money from streaming so they rely on their fans buying merchandise and tour tickets.

I want the 'Invaders Must Die Remixes +' album (because I want the PENGSHUi remix of 'Omen') but I'm not exactly ecstatic to have to rush to town early on RSD to try to secure one and then be charged £32 for it. Unfortunately exclusive tracks off RSD releases don't always get released digitally (e.g. 'Invisible Sun (Liam H Heat Up Remix)') so buying the vinyl is the only way to be sure to get it.

The price is £4 or £5 more than last years 'The Day Is My Enemy Remixes' vinyl. Cost of living crisis hits hard.

Collectors are in a prison of their own making. You don't have to buy releases. It's especially crazy if you don't like the music (a lot of people on here have said they don't like the Drum & Bass remixes. If that's the case then don't buy them). Apart from the odd release, most of your collection is unlikely to ever be worth more than you paid for it.

While we wait for the official track list ('The Day Is My Enemy Remixes' RSD 2022 vinyl tracklist wasn't known until shops received their RSD copies and posted photos of the back cover), I've tried to crack the 'riddle' of the track list.

We know two of the tracks "making their first appearance on vinyl" are: -
'Omen (PENGSHUi Remix)'
'Take Me To The Hospital (Live from Alexandra Palace, London)'

"Eight of the ten tracks are making their first appearance on vinyl" means that 2 of the tracks have already been on vinyl before.

These are the UK vinyl singles from 'Invaders Must Die' so in theory 2 of these tracks will be on 'Invaders Must Die Remixes +'

https://www.discogs.com/release/1614916 ... odigy-Omen
Omen (Noisia Remix)
Invaders Must Die (Chase + Status Remix)

https://www.discogs.com/release/1763399 ... iors-Dance
Warrior's Dance (Benga Remix)
Warrior's Dance (South Central Remix)

https://www.discogs.com/release/2026212 ... s-Must-Die
Invaders Must Die (Liam H Re-Amped Version)
Thunder (Doorly Remix)

https://www.discogs.com/release/1903780 ... e-Hospital
Take Me To The Hospital (Sub Focus Remix)
Take Me To The Hospital (Rusko Remix)

"Five tracks were originally on the limited ‘Deluxe Edition’ CD Box Set of the original album"

https://www.discogs.com/release/1996062 ... s-Must-Die

Removing the 'Invaders Must Die' album tracks and tracks from the vinyl singles leaves these tracks: -

The Big Gundown
Wild West
Omen (Herve's End Of The World Remix)
Warrior's Dance (Future Funk Squad's 'Rave Soldier' Mix)
Take Me To The Hospital (Josh Homme & Liam H's Wreckage Mix)
Take Me To The Hospital (Loser's Middlesex A & E Remix)
Invaders Must Die (Yuksek Remix)
Thunder (Bang Gang Remix)

"whilst three were bonus tracks on now deleted and highly collectable 12-inch or CD singles"

These are the UK CD singles from 'Invaders Must Die' and the tracks which weren't on the vinyl singles: -

https://www.discogs.com/release/1652696 ... odigy-Omen
Omen (Edit) (Omen (Extended) was a digital only release so I guess that isn't an option)

https://www.discogs.com/release/1763446 ... iors-Dance
Warrior's Dance (Edit)

https://www.discogs.com/release/2026186 ... s-Must-Die
Mescaline
Thunder (Arveene & Misk's Storm-Warning Remix)
Invaders Must Die (Proxy Remix)

https://www.discogs.com/release/1905491 ... e-Hospital
Take Me To The Hospital ('09 EQ)

It would be a lot easier if they just published the track list!

Good to know the track list. I'm happy to get something previously unreleased (the PENGSHUi Remix). We'd all have liked this release to include studio versions of the live versions (e.g. played at Milton Keynes) of 'Colours' and 'Thunder'.

Nothing to be excited about, more of the same, a remix and a live version...is this all they can offer in a new remix edition on an LP?

I'd have preferred No Tourists era tracks as most of all those remixes were digital only, besides, Invaders is an album that I never listen to.

Some users have said that the sound is basically the same since 2007-08 (Warning and the first Invaders demos) and I do agree with that.

Maybe No Tourists had a slightly different approach though.

On Pengshui's Instagram I posted "It would be great if you could do a live performance version and upload it to your YouTube account (like you did for your 'Light Up The Sky' remix)." and they replied "keep ya eyes peeled next week !!!"

Here's their live 'Light Up The Sky' remix if anyone hasn't seen it: -

I've just heard the Pengshui remix and it's really bad. And the prices at discogs at the moment are ridiculous
