I just got one for myself yesterday, so i dug up this thread again.
I bought a 4 GB sandisk player for £43 (less than half of the price of a 4 GB ipop). It does video and photos for those who needs that, plus you can load rockbox onto it. Only catch i can see is if you have DRM music from itunes music store, but i dont so im good It works just aswell as my mates ipod nano, just half the price and no need for hacks in order to transfer music without itunes.

yeah man i told u, those sandiscs kick ass, there simple, cheap and full of memory, if your like me, just needing somthing to listen to either on the train or on the bus or at work its perfect, no need for fancy ipod touches if your just gonna use it for its prime purpose
