BULLSHIT! i doubt we will hear new stuff in the sets this summer.
Liam will go into the Guinness book of records for having the same set list for the longest amount of time.
I feel your pain! Wasn't the album already supposed to come out twice by now?? First I think it was early 2007.. then like summer 2007... now we're back to early in the year but it's 2008 they are shooting for lol

Yeah for real, Liam REALLY REALLY REALLY needs to change the setlist up. And i'm not even talking about new songs. If he doesn't wanna play them yet, fine. But for the love of God, change up the old tracks that are played! Considering it's all on his laptop, he could theoretically play a slightly different set every show. I know I sound like a broken record b/c I've said this a thousand times before.
We all know there are core songs which will always be played like Poison, Their Law, SMBU, etc. But he could at least have 2-3 songs which he rotates in and out of the set to allow "new" old tunes to be played. How about playing Funky Shit with the Everything I Do Gonh Be Funky intro? How about Jericho? Girls? Charly? Serial Thrilla? The list goes on and on. It would just be so much more exciting if he'd throw in a couple different tracks every now and then.
Remember when he dropped Charly at Pukkelpop 2001 after not playing it for like 6 years? Remember when he played Rhythm Of Life at Tokyo 2002 after not playing it in like 8 years? People still talk about that. If he'd still keep us on our toes by mixing it up a little bit it would just make it so much more interesting to wait for the reviews of the show to come in and be like "OMG HE PLAYED _________!?!"

I totally agree, the same setlist for years at a time is disguisting.
Although I don't deem it neccesary for Liam to have to play Smack My Bitch Up, Breathe, Firestarter, Spitfire, Their Law, Poison at every show, sure they're 'anthemic', but people will get by if one of these are missed on a night. I wouldn't leave out too many, but two or three at particular gig few people will miss, and it'ld make room for other songs, ie. I really want to see Break & Enter and Serial Thrilla more often, two of Prodigys best songs for live performance in my opinion. I doubt anyone (especially the fans) are going to avoid, or be dissapointed with a Prodigy gig because a few songs aren't played.
Freak is probably Radioheads most recognised songs, maybe most popular too (especially in the 90s), and since the late 90s, they have played it VERY sparingly, having not played it for years, 100s of shows at a time. Just an example.

you know, i totally agree... i love the fat of the land tunes, but i wouldnt want to hear them all the time anymore it's 10 years later and you're playing them at everyshow.. enough to the point that i can be the firestarter and tell you who's psychosomatic addict insane while saying fuck the law cos i have the poison!
i want more diversity.. more old and new.. i fucking hate the aono era but even i would go insane to hear girls or memphis bells even babys got a temper.. just give me something different more often.. dont make a preset playlist everywhere you go... are you hearing me liam?? dya know what i mean??

I think he ought to drop Trigger or nuclear, or memphic bells a few times just to shake things and expectations up a little...even those 2002 tunes are now old and 'classics' in a way.
Play girls, play wake up call (how can they replace this with wtfu? :| ), play rhythm of life....anything

Yeah I was really dissapointed how quickly most of the AONO tunes were dropped from the set. When AONO first came out I really didn't think it would work very well live aside from like Spitfire and stuff. But then that first Athens show I was blown away how good Wake Up Call, Girls, Medusa's Path all were live.
The *average* person who knows sparingly about The Prodigy thinks they disappeared off the planet after FOTL, and them playing this setlist which they could have practically played 10 years ago doesn't help dispell that myth. He needs to play more AONO tunes still, and mix up the Jilted/FOTL tunes he plays.
I remember that great quote from one of Neko's interviews I believe it was back in 2005 when he was bringing Jericho back into the set. It was something like this:
Keith: "What's that tune? Is it something new?"
Liam: "It's fucking Jericho man!"

You said it all, Tim 110% agree. All the shit is in his laptop, so he can "play" whatever he wants. It's not a rock and roll band where he must prepare 30 or 35 songs for a tour, with drums, bass guitar, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, etc. Everything is recorded in his laptop, so he has everything to change setlist a bit.
On the contrary, we may think the band are now palying festivals, and lots of people WANT to hear / see Breathe, SMBU or Firestarter among some others, and for a question of image he can't leave them out. Moreover, AONO failed to kick in the mainstream, and people at a festival wouldn't recognize probably almost every single song of this LP. But Liam has enough space in the setlist to change 2 or 3 tracks on every show.
My two cents, I suppose.

About the live show...
"In the 2002 period though it was quite tired cause we had no... not many new songs. But this time back we've never had this many new songs in one go. And we're playing tunes tonight that I've been writing. I've wrote a new tune today and we're gonna play it tonight. So I'm always writing music, do ya know what I mean?"
- Liam Howlett

I think that's even *more* reason to play them. Just b/c the album wasn't a huge success like FOTL, doesn't mean he should abandon it. If you were at a festival and only knew Prodigy from the FOTL period, wouldn't you be more inclined to go check out what they've been up to if you heard some "new" tracks you didn't know such as Spitfire, Girls, Wake Up Call, etc.?

to go back to the subject, the new diary entry made me enthusiast enough
I don't really care about when the new album is about to come up, as I'm confident there's gonna be new stuff out (apart from Shadow) before the end of the year
just waiting for a new single to crash in my speakers...
and, yeah, I agree about the setlist thing
