hey Trent is a genius, but's he got plenty of producers, mixers, engineers working alongside him as well. thru the years he worked with Keith Hillenbrant, Alan Moulder, John Fryer, Charlie Clouser, etc., etc.

but with Year Zero, you gotta give props to Atticus Ross, he has a project of his own Error on the punk label Epitaph. check it out and you'll see where the new NIN album's sound came from. Ross is the shit. check out the Error tunes you'll see. he also produced half of the Korn album "See You On The Other Side," which on honestly sound wise was pretty awesome. Korn tried to do the metal/electronic thing with their album "Untouchables," but it was missing something. Ross definitely made the album rawer sound, kinda his thing. When him and Trent joined up, that was it for me.

Liam, Trent, and Alec Empire are completely different styles and both are great in their own ways.

Seriously though, not a fan of Year Zero. Previous work much more impressive. Comparing artists from different fields, styles, backgrounds is lunatic to say the least. It about the art of composition if you ask me. The better you blend the elements you have , the better you are. Its as simple as that.
