so far it hasn't sounded like anything.. we haven't gotten any bits of what a new track will sound like.. if it's anything like what we've heard since AONO it's not really a new direction at all

AONO is so underrated becuz the prodigy fanboys wanted it 2 be FOTL2.
when the new album hits mininova... err.. the stores, it will be the same thing. people are already screamin "god forbid collaborations, we want it 2 be all liam like 20 years ago".
amanda ghost's voice would perfectly fit into a very dark, atmospheric soundscape, a cross between weather xperience & medusas path (although the medusa beats were kinda weak). it's all speculation right now but i expect strings sounds & evil orchestral music underlined with beats which make you deaf.
i'd willingly listen 2 chester bennington whining some LP crap if i'm wrong about this.

Prodigy "fanboys" were, for the most part, NOT expecting another FOTL. Prodigy has a long history, and they've been known to switch up their style of attack with each album. Most true, blue Prodigy fans understand this. The casual Prodigy fans would be more likely to expect another Firestarter. However, every album before AONO, while they changed in style, did not deviate from a high standard of quality. AONO had such a poor critical and commercial success because it disappointed both casual and hardcore Prodigy fans. It wasn't the change of style that doomed the album. There are plenty of great electro albums out there. Many fans would agree that AONO is just not one of them.

While I don't know what style to expect for the next album, I do expect it to adhere to a high level of quality. Can these collaberations work well? Yes! Will they?....... we won't know that for a while.

AONO is so underrated because there is no too much too rate. Unfinished, over lengthen, with a bunch of obviously poor tracks. It was just too damn hard to find where is Liam's hand over there. Just loops and vocals.



Yeah, collaborations is actually forbidden. I'm quite sure 10-20 monsters of top-paid music making would do quite a good album under any name or genre. It's a pure show business. But if you're name Liam Howlett that's not gonna work, as expected at least. You will be surprised, but I would really like to see Liam 20 years back. Before he got this lazy ass playing on overpaid party. Yes, I want Liam Howlett to be Liam Howlett. I don't give damn about 20 years unless it's full of champagne and god knows what else. Even if we got absolutely sober Liam and ask him to record another FOTL, I'm sure the result would be better then AONO. You just can't write another FOTL. FOTL was a natural growth of MFJG. And hell, I want to hear a natural growth of FOTL, but not something done by showbusiness monsters. You can have any collaborations if you're own talent is bright enough, otherwise you're in risk to sink below the state of being relevant.




There is no recipe of success, my man. Dead Ken Beat is a good track, but I wouldn't put all the eggs into the basket. Loud beats don't guarantee anything neither. Contrast is the secret. From cold to hot, from silence to noise, from death to life.

Hotride for me stands equally high as voodoo people. Just because the rest of the album had poor standards doesn't mean hotride had.

And when you listen to the singles album, when girls comes after poison, I catch myself thinking: "hey this is better!". And I love poison!

I think this is pretty good news. As long as they don't overuse the shit. Like on AONO with get up, get off. Now that just wasn't the prodigy was it. I don't want any of that shit on the new albumn. We need some new fucking hard shit, I want something that's going to blow my fucking mind. This has too be killer because this could well be the last albumn we get from the Prodigy, or at least the Prodigy as we know it.

I've just been listening to all the alternate tracks from the AONO period and i have to say that i really dig the alternate takes of YBUMW, Spitfire (such as 2005), GUGO and perhaps Memphis Bells (you know, one of the 5000 versions that was available for download). The tracks are much more thought out than the one that ended on the album. If the alternate versions were on the album, it would've been higher on my scale or whatever.

These guys wanna come back with a big bang, I think their discipline about keeping the material for themselves for quite a long time is impressive and it just has to be good to be true when the album comes out.
And about the Amanda Ghost thingy it's good I'd like to see a big commercial success.

I kind of 50/50 on this AONO discussion. I was at first a tad disappointed with the outcome, but after all these years of inactivity and millions of different ideas going trough the head of Liam, I found my self ina a fair state of mind where I could show some compasion with the album, and reviewed it as if I was reviewing a new album from an anonymous artist. (Correct my english if I'm wrong).

I love AONO. It's wasn't the instant hit TFOTL was, but a classic album in my books.

I have too agree with you there Stasz, it is a good thing that they keep shit so secretive in a sense. Because when we eventually get some new shit, it's like WHHHooooooaaaaa.

But on the flip side it wouldn't be a bad thing if we had some information on how the albumn is going you know, yea shit pops out like "Oh yea we've mixed most of the tracks already." That shit is good to no one. Why not bring us a proper update, tell us where the albumn is really at. Maybe even give us a fucking rough date for a single or some shit. Because I'm getting sick of waiting .

I'm with Zed, I want the old Liam back. The one who had at the bare minumum 1 Prodigy release every year, hard working and on the ball. I know we're all still shitting over each other on AONO.. some like it, some hate it.. it was the first Prodigy release that got even bigger dispute among the fans than BGAT.. but I think regardless of that we're all eager to know how the new tracks are going to sound. We're really just waiting on Liam to be honest.. we're getting ready to push into the 4th year now since the last proper studio album and that just doesn't cut it anymore. Breaks like this definitely don't help Prodigy in any way. It's hard to believe we're already getting ready to pass the 50% waiting gap we had while waiting for AONO after FOTL.. now that's sad...

-in 1997 FOTL was launched and the band kept touring until 1999
-after that they all needed a break
-then Liam did his Dirtchamber album, Maxim his Hell's Kitchen, and Leeroy left
-maybe in middle 2000-beginning 2001, Liam started the 1st AONO
-they played live Trigger and Nuclear in 2001
-Liam continues working on it, and releases BGAT in 2002
-he sees the direction he was taking wasn't innovative (AND LIAM CLEARLY WANTS TO BE INNOVATIVE), so he puts the 1st AONO to waste and starts from scratch
-there's like a 4 months gap where he couldn't do anything new, no inspiration (see 1st article posted by Kubazz here)
-he really starts writing in beginning 2003, finishes in beginning 2004, and the album is out in August

seeing it this way, it's very understandable, there's not much waste of time, it isn't 7 years of masturbation and then DAH! HERE'S AONO PEOPLE!

if you don't appreciate the album that's up to you, but it was PRODUCED in a decent time, whatever what people were thinking between the whole 7 years

-now, Prodigy starts touring AONO at October 2004, and they keep touring
-they release Spitfire single in may 2005, and few months later it's Their Law released
-Their Law touring a lot from then, but also in 2006

the new album have been started I don't know when, but let's say mid 2006

my opinion: 1½-2 years of producing, a bit longer than AONO, but it looks new and hot, and something before spring 2008, I'm pretty happy with that
