Your computer specs is prety good, and how much resources using by new operation system - Windows Vista RC1 ? Next month I will have new powerfull PC, and I hope maybe I will use this new operation system.

Vista does not take much resources if you don't use Aero system. It works fine in my computer... though I need to buy some more memory, maybe 1 GB more, haven't decided yet.

If you are going to install RC1, keep in mind that it's not stable. It does not run all programs (for instance, I didn't get Daemon Tools to work with it).

Core 2 Duo E6600 so its somewhere about 4.8GHz ?

Im planing to buy new PC next week and off all procesors I had chosen Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13GHz which must be somewhere about 4.2GHz

I saw many tests and I think Intel Core 2 Duo is really #1 of all procesors at this time. What You can say about this product, when You have it ?

Thanks. But what would be wrong with these speakers? I don't like to have more than two speakers on my desk. These come with a seperate subwoofer. The speakers are quite solid and stable and they have a good sound. Besides that, they're not very expensive. In their price segment, they're one of the best you can get I believe. Besides all this, I will only use them for some occassional music listening, some games, et cetera. Or do you think there are better speakers for the same price with better value for money?

Those speakers just seems a bit weak compared to your ~170 euro soundcard Maybe its just the soundcard thats a big overkill.

I'm using headphones and I'll connect my computer to my home cinema set. Those Logitech Z4 speakers are just for some games, MP3's, et cetera.

I'm looking to buy a new PC (finally) at the moment as well. For the soundcard here are my options. Any thoughts? Obviously, as you may have guessed, I like music *but* I'm just using it for basic listening, not creating my own music or anything. I just have a decent 2 speaker/subwoofer setup for the time being as well, and I listen mostly on headphones. Is there really need for me to upgrade?

the soundblaster x-fi is a waste of money in my opinion. Most people wont hear the difference betwen it and an audigy 4 card for example (for 'normal' use), or be able to use even a half of its features... but if you got enough money, why not though.
Integrated soundcards are generaly quite shite. The other electronic components on the motherboard interferes with it, and creates noise n stuff. I dont know if its worth giving 50 bucks to get an emulated audigy card out of it either. I mean, its just emulated! Try find some reviews of your motherboard to see if the integrated sound is okay.

So, Go for a regular soundblaster audigy card, or similar.

Onboard sound isn't too bad, but if you listen to music regularly on your computer I would invest in a sound card. A Sound Blaster Audigy is a good step forward. An X-Fi Xtreme Music is even better, but costs more too. I can't look into your wallet. If you have the money, go for the last one. If you want better sound, but don't want to spend too much, just go for the Audigy. You'll be happy with that one too then.

Thanks for the input on the sound. I think i'll upgrade just to be safe. Music's one of my primary reasons for using the PC, so might as well not be cheap on the soundcard.

If you wanna play the latest games i'd invest in a decent graphics card. The built-in graphics cards are a drain on CPU. (I'm assuming the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 is built-in).
