Budapest-Bucharest train derails after collision with truck

BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) - The night train from the Hungarian capital, Budapest, to the Romanian capital, Bucharest, slammed into a truck on a crossing and derailed early Monday, authorities said.
The train had just left the western Romanian city of Arad and was traveling at 100kph (62 mph) when it slammed into a truck carrying
apples which was crossing the track at a partially marked rail crossing near the city, the National Railways said.
The train driver was slightly injured. A fire that broke out in his cabin was immediately extinguished, the railways said. The truck driver was unharmed.

Dozens of passengers were escorted back to the train station in Arad and rail traffic in western Romania was diverted. Trains were running hours late in the region.
