Yes I'm quite an electronics spree at the moment. I've never actually had an Ipod or there-like since I have my car I never really had a use for one before. Any recommendations? And what brand? I need 20GB MINIMUM and I DONT want a video one, just straight up mp3's.

iPods looks nice, sound nice, is easy to use, and you know what you get. But i didnt chose to get one because you need iTunes i order to transfere your files (you cant just use windows explorer), it is rather limited when it comes to music formats, and everyone and their mom has one. Many other mp3 players on the other hand, vary a great deal in quality.

Get one from a brand that you trust (no poopy chinese crap)
Go to a store to try them out before you buy, and read reviews online
Get one with flash memory if you can (not sure if they have 20 gb's ones with flash memory though)

I have an iPod....i mean when you think about it iPod owns about 80% of the market when it comes to mp3 players and its because of its ease of use and quality...and mostly all the add-ons out are for the iPod so its easier to find knock off brand car chargers or whatever or just regular brand stuff. plus i like the fact that my cd covers are displayed with the songs....but the main point is that the quality is great compared to other mp3 players ive heard and since it is so popular its not difficult to find stuff to go with it. and with the new $350 80gig ipod video...you could get the nice black one and make your own prodigy ant skin  not to mention put every prodigy gig you have on it

I'll recommend one of Creative's hd players! Those are much better than iPods!

Or the iAudio X5 30gb. I'm thinking about buying one, cause it can play ogg vorbis and FLAC as well as the other usual formats. AND you dont need any software program to transfer file, as you need with other hd players such as Creative and iPod. It comes up as an external hd in windows. no need to do anything, thats what I like most about it 8-) Drag and drop :) No bullshit programs! Organize yourself.

Was looking at mp3 players in the shop today. What you guys think of the 30GB Creative mp3 player vs the 30GB Ipod? The sales clerk told me you can just drag and drop from Explorer with Creative.

This player is really good. Way better than iPod! Better sound, better screen!

Well the clerk is lying! You still need a program to do drag and drop! U cant just use the explorer in windows.

I have an old Creative Zen Touch 20 gb, and I need a program called Zen Touch Media Explorer to do drag and drop, but it is till much better than iTunes and Creative Mediasource, which are pretty heavy programs.

"Creative Media Explorer helps you organise songs and playlists, and easily transfer media files between your portable audio player and Windows Explorer with its Drag-and-Drop feature."

I have this one, use it only for mp3s though, no videos or pics for me. Very satisfied, the only thing I don't like about Creative players is that they have a random function, instead of shuffle function...

My last mp3-player was also a Creative, they usually get full score in all the consumer tests and is better than iPod when it comes both sound quality and sturdyness...iPod is a fashion thing, not for people that are really into music, that's why your mom, kid sister and your grandfather has one...I actually think the creatives are cheaper than iPods also...

but Im biased, I hate apple, mac and iPod...i don't like branding in general, I like quality

I got the Creative Zen 20 Gig. Always done me right. Everyone I know always calls it an "ipod" or a "imitation ipod" and it really pisses me off. They don't realise that Apple fully cranked out the advertising and its almost like a fashionable thing to have one. "hey look at me, I have an Ipod!" My mate who dunno shit about tech wanted to get a player, so he and his missus went out to get one, got hub-bubbed into gettin the 30 gig Ipod, now he freaks out coz the software is too full on compared to Zen's software. He was watching me Drag tunes over into my zen and he couldn't believe how much less fucking around I had to do. He's abit of a tool when it comes to tunes anyways, he's had it for 4 months and only has 200 or so songs no there. I've got about 3000. And I plug the fkr up to everything wherever I go.

@ Crazy Boy
What's the diff between Random and shuffle? LOL

random is when a player plays songs randomly, any track can be played more than once before all tracks are played, and some tracks never gets played.

shuffle is like winamp has, the tracks are played in random order, but all tracks are played before anyone is repeated.

when I have my creative on random mode the same fucking tracks get played all the time, and some rarely or never gets played
