Just think about it... You have to wash your shoes before you go there in case you have worn them on a night in town, because you risk having 0.002 grams of cocain on them just by stepping into a toilet at a club. Does there even exist a reliable balance that is able measure the weight of something that small?

Unfortunately there's a huge difference between having something on the soles of your shoes and having it in your pocket. And because of the pretty much total ban on drugs, it's not likely you'll step in anything like that anyway.

To be fair, surely he knew that being in possesion of any drug in a country like Dubai carries a stiff sentence. He's a world travelled DJ, and to claim he forgot he had it is not much of an excuse. Don't forget he also had some porn on him too, which is just as heavily frowned upon over there.
My sister in law lived over there for over 10 years, and she reckons it's got to be one of the safest countries in the world. And the reason? 99.9% of the population obey the laws religiously (no pun intended). There's virtually zero violent crime, no kids stabbing each other at school and no drunken fist fights in town centres on Saturday nights.

Does that really sound like such a bad thing? Not to me it isn't. Bottom line, if you break the rules and you get caught you've only got yourself to blame.

yeah, lame excuse. same thing happened with a young portuguese film director, in UAE a couple of years ago, but he was released weeks later.
this kinda reminded me of a film somewhere in the East Asia with two girls being arrested for drugs possession and living in jail, cant remind the title however.

Exactly. I wish more people would learn about this place and stop supporting it with billions of dollars in tourism. Go on their official Dubai websites or the Airport website, all they talk about is this relaxed vacation spot. They make no mention of their ridiculous laws which can put you in jail for eating a turkey sandwhich or whatever other bullshit laws they have.

FUCK DUBAI!
