Same here, I've got a cold. I couldn't sleep very well last night, so I feel absolutely knackered now I'm home from work, I ache all over and snot is running onto my keyboard. And I've got to drive over 350 miles tomorrow.

me and my mate today, went to the machanics to get his new brakes fitted on his car, we returned home and ended up going down a hill, and smashing through a brick wall, the car is fucked, i feel really bad about it, i wasn't driving of course but still he spent ages fixing it, his leg is fucked and my neck doesn't feel good at all, it was a "nice" start to the day... and the car is a write off

Did the mechanic at the garage fit the new brakes or did your mate do them himself? If it was the garage, go back to him and tell him that you believe that brake failure was the reason for the accident and you're going to claim reparations through his insurance. He should be fully covered for things like this. Also tell your insurance company that the parts fitted were not acceptable and you want to claim off a third party's cover (ie the garage). Give them all the details they need and they will then write to him and ask his side of the story. If he's honest, he'll just accept that it was his fault and everything should get sorted out quite quickly.
Get everything in writing, and take pictures of the scene of the accident (you'll need them to prove that you weren't speeding and that the brakes really failed, ie no skid marks). Do this ASAP, before anything at the scene changes (repairing the wall etc). Also try to get witness statements from people who live nearby, they may have seen something about the car that you haven't (ie bits falling off).

Don't bullshit anything on the statement you give the insurance people, they may want to inspect the car and if things don't add up they can quite easily refuse to compensate you.

On the other hand, if your mate fitted the brakes himself, you're probably up shit creek if he's not fully comp on his cover.
