taken from kerrang magazine online UK :

Quote:
Hyper, the new band by renowned DJ, DJ Hyper, and former Prodigy and Pitchshifter guitarist Jim Davis are gearing to release their new album, Suicide Tuesday.

The record features collaborations with ex-Prodigy vocalist Leeroy and Subways bassist Charlotte Cooper.

The band's new single, Centre Attraction, will be released through Kilowatt on August 4.

notice how kerrang refer to leeroy as ex-prodigy vocalist

also
taken from hypers official site :

Quote:
The first single from new album ’Suicide Tuesday’ will be the cynical look at celebrity culture, ’Centre Attraction’ which features the vocal talents of Jim Davies. Remixes have come from the new wave end of things with newcomers G.e.R.M. stepping up with a killer mix for the clubs while those Brighton boys South Central will no doubt get down, dirty and rocky for the uber glitch kids. Its out on vinyl and download on 4th August but you can listen in the player now.

Curious what the album is about. I didn't like We Control that much... so, I don't expect too much. The single isn't that fresh anyway. It's like the new Pendulum album with some Crystal Method synths... Not really powerful this stuff. :?

Does anyone have 'Centre Attraction'? It's not on the Hyper myspace and the Hyper website player doesn't work for me.

1. “Centre Attraction” - Floor tom-driven digital Punk rock with vocals from Jim Davies, A live favourite that sticks the knife into the heart of celebrity. The distinctive sound has already seen it snapped up for usage on CSI New York.

2. “Let Me In”: A powerful, thrashy electronic noise with energy explosions. Sharp synths and guitar onslaught combine with Leeroy's vocal to make 3 minutes of mayhem.

3. “I'm An Image” Dropping the tempo, Hyper dirty it up with a lo slung chugger full of analogue synths and heavy beats perfectly contrasted by Charlotte's (from The Subways) soft, Siouxsie style vocal delivery. Already a favourite with many!

4. “Jabba” :A straight up club record for the naughties, this track bounces along incessantly and is heavily influenced by the 'French' sound. The beautiful and melodic bitcrushed guitar breakdown is a highlight of the album... and then the madness begins again...

5. “Touch”: The first of two all out uptempo belters, Touch was an experiment in seeing what it's like to work at 150 plus bpm. A Myspace favourite already, Leeroy Thornhill's glitched up vocal adds a new level to this track. Pure Punk energy with a club smashing breakdown. Another killer in the live set!

6. “Replica” : The natural follow up to 'We Control', Replica is a stab driven pile driver of a track with an angry Odissi delivering the killer vocal delivery. Already seen on CSI Miami, Ugly Betty and a Sony Playstation race track time killer!

7. “Deteriorate”: Time to slow it down again. Hyper dive into analogue synth squelchiness for an Electronic glitch up featuring vocal snippets from Keiron Pepper.

8. “No Rockstars”: Hyper's club smash from late last year (co written with Vandal) makes a welcome appearance as a glue sniffing New York hardcore fan welcomes the fact there are 'no rockstars now, you know?'. Anthemic and heavy in equal proportion, this has devastated dancefloors across the world as well as genres.

9. “Push It” : The second of the two uptempo experiments, the boys have been finishing off their live sets to this to much acclaim. 'Push It' (once again vocalled by Leeroy Thornhill) is a Jam inspired, Electronic shout along with a thunderous bassline! Watch out for that breakdown again.

10. “It's Sick”: Started life as a club monster with some west coast leanings, Hyper (in cahoots with Vandal again) brought in Axe-Girl and doubled its original intent.

Reading the reviews of the tracks, what they sound like, makes me even more curious... but also more exited. Which in turn makes me expect a little more. Which can lead to another let down. Oh well...

Well I got the Hyper media player to work and I'm not impressed at all. The 'Original Mix' reminds me of old Pitchshifter only with glitchy noise added. Here is what I got off the media player ...

Centre Attraction (Original Mix)
Centre Attraction (GeRm ReMiX)
Centre Attraction (South Central Remix)

I quite like the album, not as much as We Control but still good.

Leeroy's left and it's not breaks anymore but that's ok.

Well, the album sounds like it was made in 2002 but the release was put off till now. I seriously think its a tremendous piece of shit. We Control is miles better than this.
