Yeah, it's like 2x as powerful as the Gamecube. the Wii isn't about power.. it's about affordability and the games.. (the new controller and all that) so it's not really going for top graphics like xbox360 and ps3 are fighting for
It's only 1.5 times faster than the GC. All they did was overclock the graphics card. The price is actually quite a rip off. The controllers are also very highly priced. the remote is $40 and the add on for FPS games is another $20. Games are still going to be $50. The old games are also overy priced. The Original NES games are gonna be $5 minimum. At this point I don't see truely being affordable compared to the other consoles. Ninetendo wants you to think they are because their stuff is just slightly cheaper but they are actually riping you off more than MS and Sony who are actually loosing money on every console sold.

WHAT! why the hell not? its going to be the ultimate, bring your mates over + beer + wii = teh awesome. i'm super cereal.
its cheap as chips, they focus on playability of games, and the games are always a lol. plus the back catalog of games that Nintendo has is phenomenal. get some classic Mario kart tourneys on the go and your flying.
i may not be pre-ordering one, but im defiantly gonna get one.
if they make a light saber game i will die happy. in all my years, i haven't seen a console as good as this. I went from Amstrad, Megadrive, SNES, Gameboy, Playstation, Dreamcast, GBA, XBOX. never bought a ps2, although i was tempted the other day. Back on topic, i think there are still a few dedicated gamers out there that know that this console has got playability and potential.

Overall the top GC games like Metroid or Fzero have never been topped in terms of graphics compared to PS2. Google it.

Fifi games? JK, I know what you meant and firmly agree that Gamecube games look and run much better than PS2 games. Its a fact.

Nintendo Wii:
Technical Shit, but revolution in games.... Nintendo WII[l] beat them all !
I will buy it, especially cos of
Zelda
Next Mario Kart
Far Cry
I hope there will be a Half-Life 2 on Wii with a modified Gravity-Gun.... Something like a Gravity-stick....

Sounds great even though Wii is a beautiful piece of hardware,
I doubt that it can run that great game from 2004.

There will be a new Wii in 2007 that will play DVDs. Its somewhere on IGN.COM
I second evans, I will wait til the console drops to $150. This console is extremely overpriced. All of you talking about how great the back catalog is, it seems that you just want the console because of the old school games and not so much because of the new games (of course Zelda is great but that is pretty much it).
This seems like Gamecube 1.5 (with a funky controller and nunchunk) instead of a whole new console. You even have to buy component cables to get 480i... please...

Bah, I want this console for the old games, new games, AND low price. It is not Gamecube 1.5, it is Gamecube 2.0! Twice as powerful. I can't wait to play Wii Sports right out of the box and Zelda when it is finally shipped to me (thank god I preordered!). Warioware will be incredibly fun, and the new Mario.. I mean... come on, that'll be a best-seller. Being able to play any nintendo game I want on it just blows my mind. Mario 64 will be my first purchase! :D
But then again, I couldn't care less about HD(my TV is low def. lol!) or DVD(I have many dvd players) or online multiplayer(I live near friends ) or any of that! So that could make me very biased.
