i had a computer technician come in and he said that Windows 7 is made by the makers of XP (unlike vista) so it should be good.

Don't forget to tell us what you think of it when you've got it up and running 8-)

i'll wait a couple more days but by now i can tell you that it is optimized for a 1gb ram memory use and a 2,5 ghz medium pc.so it doesn't require a state of the art pc like vista did.also from the 1gm mem looks like it only uses half.word is that microsoft is trying to get it to run stabil even on 256 mb ram.
unfortunately the version available on trackers is an older build,the latest one presented had a new taskbar.
what is different about the new one and the old,is that the new taskbar doesn't have anymore text in the buttons of the minimized windoes.the windows minimize into icons in the taskbar,similar to mac os.
also all the drivers vista compatible,work on 7 too.......

i'll comeback with more details in a couple of days,i just instaled it on my sisters pc.

you can see some of the features of the new windows in this clips.keep in mind that this build isn't released yet,it was only used for the presentation,the current build found on torrents has the vista interface and lacks he features of the new taskbar

im a bit curious, wasnt windows 7 meant to be an os that was lighter on the pc that vista, like a down grade for people with not the best pc's or what not, i can't remember much of the story but all this new taskbar stuff and vista looks seem to be making it almost a bigger os than vista, and pin, do u know what happened to the voice recognition word ?

Did i see a dock??

Stealing from OS X are we???

Oh well, guess apple have stolen something from windows before too, but that dock thing is on the edge....

Why do people continue using windows??? Ive been on a mac for almost 2 years without a spam, virus, ad, malware remover... Still work as great as the day i bought it.
Installing windows is like installing a virus imo...

Hpoe windows 7 will be safer than the previous, else i dont dare use it...

that is not your opinion, you have just heard some other artsy mac fan boy say that.

seriously, there is no way known you came to that conclusion yourself, it is such a cliche phrase.

Same here. If you maintain an up to date firewall and use a virus checker before you open any new files, there's no problem. I've had a PC for nearly 10 years and have never had a virus. Any I did have got picked up and deleted by my scanner before they could do any damage. It's just common sense really.

I think i know what my opinions are. Anyways, the last person to know is you...

Look at it this way:
I installed osx the usual, standard way 2 years ago. Ive used it without any formating or virus scanning at all. It still runs as fast as it did the day i bought it.

I installed Win xp the usual way. I can say for 100% sure that my computer wasnt as quick or effective as it was the day i bought it after 2 years or less. malware and adware popped up when i ran the scanners. Some virus alerts every now and then...
Its maybe me. But i had the standard win firewall on. I had the so called best virus program. Found viruses but never managed to do anything with them.. So is the story for all the "spyware killers" too..

these experiences is what i based what i said on...

So again. I know my opinions..

cooglesz the idea is that even with the new features the os will be optimized for a 1gb mem usage,the build available right now even let's half of that 1gb free for other use,but it doesn't have the features shown in those clips.

and i don't think windows stole from apple.enough with this shit.just because they now use only icons in the taskbar and preview and drag.
apple didn't invent this.and if i'm not mistaken when the first os for apple was created bill gates and microsoft helped them design it,so the current apple os wouldn't be here without the cretors of windows.

i don't like the taskbar cause it looks cheap,it has very good features now but it looks simple.i hope they tweak it a little.
as for security vista managed to be very secure,so you don't have to be scared like using xp,add a antivirs to that and you don't have any problems.and with 7 they will go even further in making it a safe os with minimum infection risk

let's save the mac vs pc war for another thread please.

each one has it's positives and negatives.

the tv adverts are a joke and misleading beyond all means from both sides. it's all a monopoly to get you to buy their product. no matter who leads or is leading, there are and will forever be hackers and rebels who do harmful things to your computer. believe what you will but no operating system is more capable or safer than the other.

yeah to be honest its not the pc's fault of who gets the virus if your dumb enough to go on a site that isn't very safe with no antivirus with either a windows or a mac your fucked, i've tried both OS's out and to me this is mearly a console war rip off to me, i see things in value terms and not in name terms, heres a perfect True Example:

this christmas im wanting a laptop, now im wanting something powerful to run my programs and i want to watch hd movies on it, also i want alot of hard drive space and a good number of usb ports, some fancy extra's such as a built in webcam would be nice too:

The first laptop im going to be looking at is the Acer Aspire 5920G and here are the stats and prices:

* Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5750
* (2 GHz, 667 MHz, 2 MB Cache)
* Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Premium
* 4 GB Memory
* 250 GB Hard Drive
* Blueray DVD
* Built In Webcam
* £529.99

now i've tested this pc (the gf has one) under had conditions with games and other programs, and it does do the job really well and it doesn't just fuck up and break down, if u keep a decent anti virus and or a spyware doctor then even the most stupid internet people will not fuck it up also great value for money and it looks cool too.

On To The Next Subject, The Apple Macbook Pro:

* 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Type
* 250 Gb Hard Disk Capacity
* 2GB Memory
* NVIDIA GeForce 9600M graphics
* MAC OS X v10.5 Leopard Operating system
* £1,399.00

now i've also tested this one out at college, it does have less memory and less toys, the same amount of hdd space and a fancy graphics card and a better processor but its not that much of a better one, it looks awesome i know that but is a price over twice as much as the other one a bit too much for a logo ? because to me that is all else i'm getting with my macbook is a fancy apple logo on the back of it. im not going to compare how good the OS's are against each other because i prefer windows because thats what i started with, some people will prefer apple because thats what they started with.

so as a raw laptop the macbook is insanely priced compared to the other laptop i'm considering buying

so yeah if your a designer freak get a apple macbook.

or if your a value freak, get the acer aspire and get some blue ray movies and usb memory sticks and some awesome games to play it on and a printer and an ipod perhaps and even a midi controller and some music production programs and get that wii you've always wanted with the spare cash you've got left from not buying the apple

latest news show 7 is faster with 20% than vista.some users give it 40%faster.and there's a official release that shows a normal laptop who plays a dvd with 7 has a 11% longer autonomy than a laptop with vista performing the same task

here's other videos of 7
