It would sound "modern" a decade ago... that pretty much tells ya everything you need to know.

I've been a fan since their glory days and I lived the Appetite and I couldn't believe my eyes when I ran through the city some days ago seeing actual official advertisement posters for Chinese Democracy...
I got the album now and I gotta say it's not bad at all.
I still sounds GunsNRosy at times, although I have to say it's pretty non-modern. Very oldschool hardrocky. Which I like.
But as a lot of critics say, it's fairly overproduced. Tons of guitars, filtershit and stuff lying on each other.
I gotta say, I do pity the poor engis working on that record, it must have been a fucking mess, billions of tracks and fucking Axl wanted to change everything in the tracks every 5 days, I guess they melted their protools/brains.
So, I'd say, 3.5 out of 5 stars.
14 years is just too long to make a record, it mostly means the creativity ain't flowing right.

Not their best, but I'm ok with it ... "Chinese Democrasy" tune is the best on it imo

if this album came out 10-14 years ago when most of these songs were actually written, it woulda been good...
but like everyone says, such a long wait for songs we mostly already heard.
not groundbreaking, but not a complete disaster
Shackler's, If The World, Sorry, There Was A Time were the highlights for me
This I Love is just so damn annoyingly catchy that i catch my self going over it in my head and leaves me like WTF?

Gave it a listen, it's beyond horrible. If someone told me it took 14 days to write it I'd think its shit... the fact it took 14 years... lol.

The original leaked version of Madagascar was better than the final album version. I guess Axl changed the final version of the track, otherwise he would have been sued by Rob Dougan. I think he wanted to make his own version of "I am Not Driving Anymore".
