Ghost Town.

I thought a Ricky Gervais movie would be funnier.

Luckily, I expect nothing from Ricky Gervais as I don't find him funny at all  Every character he plays is the same, which is probably why I hate everything he's in

The Day The Earth Stood Still.

The original is a million times better. The new one started off well, extremely tense and then it turned Hollywood. Gort shows up looking like he's going to kick some ass and then it hits you, WTF this Gort looks like shit. It looks like not much of the budget was spent on Gort. Painfully fake with terrible CGI. I would have much preferred a man in a metal suit. Oh and it didn't seem like there was an ending either. I think John Cleese and Jennifer Connelly, and maybe Kathy Bates respective characters are the only people who know how to stop a friend of Klatuu from showing up and saying 'Didn't we warn you? Goodbye humans.' What a mess. The beginning 30 minutes and what the aliens were doing with the earth animals were the only things I liked about this film.

nah,i disagree it was pretty good, but the ending sucked.they should have had a meeting between klaatu and the world leaders and have a discusiion or something.not just leave.
it would suck if this would happen i reality ,like in the movie, cause if they take away your right to tehnology they would stop the humans race evolution, confine us like in a prison to pur own planet, restrain all our advance in science with all that it implies.
pretty good movie over all, although i always thought if a movie has 1:35 min it will be somehow ordinary, mediocre.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

Who besides Jennifer Connelly knew why Klaatu came to Earth? I agree that Klaatu should have met the UN or had Barnhart assemble people like in the original. Klaatu explained that there are only 5 or 6 planets like Earth in the cosmos and that Earth is too precious a planet to lose because we're killing it. He came to either get us on the right path or pick up our animals in the alien arks and kill humans and what we've done to the planet in order so save it. Maybe he explained it all to John Cleese in the assumed discussion they had and I don't think the Secretary of Defense knew why Klaatu was here. She let the military bomb the ship knowing that the only people that could save Earth from Gort were there. So maybe 2 people who knew why Klaatu was here and what was going to happen it we didn't fix it. Earth is fubar in this movie because no one knew. Klaatu's send off in the the original explained why he came and what had to be done to fix it or else. Thats why this movie doesn't have an ending, Klaatu just calls off the Gort dust storm and leaves, doesn't tell anyone to fix the planet or else someone else is going to come back and finish us off to save Earth.

END of SPOILERS

lol Sorry for the rant guys, I just didn't think this movie was good at all. On another note...

I just got back from watching Gran Turino and it is an awesome movie.
