maybe the lost beats ep were the b-sides intended for this era, since no-one really buys singles anymore lots of bands are just releasing their special edition albums with all b-sides on a second disc

No, it depends on the track and the sample. For example, I don't like the samples in Fire (album version) and We Are The Ruffest. I pretty much like the rest.
In this case, I don't think it suits TMTTH very well. IMO it takes away some of the toughness of the track.
