Well, bands have their ups and downs...
Even the Prodigy or..Underworld aren't the way they used to be.

Very Good Times...Especially 97:
The Fat Of The Land....Vegas...Dig Your Own Hole...In Sides...
Nowadays, no artist can do it like in the old days...

I hate to say it, but I blame mp3s and the lack of analog recording studios left. But with underworld I blame Karl recovering from alcoholism.

Actually I think that Underworld's latest album is nearly as good as their early albums. It's just that their sound has kind of evolved, so now they're more ambient and tend to use less breaks. Oblivion With Bells is perfect to listen to in the car on the way home at night (as is Dubnobasswithmyheadman and Second Toughest).
A Hundred Days Off is the only album I'm not a massive fan of. I love Two Months Off (which is one of my favourite tunes by them) but the rest is a bit mediocre. For me, A Hundred Days Off is the AONO of Underworld. But now they're back on their feet.
I can agree that 1997 was the best year for music that there's ever been though (to my knowledge)

i think theyve always been average.
i think the problem with electronic/dance music is theres too many geeks, chems are a good example of this problem.
fuck moby too.

you can be happy that you're not a fan of emo music though
and although a lot of stuff by Moby is hit and miss (and I'm not fan of Last Night), some of his tracks are great imo. I love Porcelain and Feeling So Real.

97 really rocked. I was twelve back then but managed to recognize the ultimate electronic sound that first the FAT OF THE LAND brought. I had encountered on the MFJG a couple of months before and this one just finished cutting my head off...I though that nothing more would happen when Vegas came into my attention on CD (Trip Like I do is still the greatest one) and then Dig your Own Hole on MC - a very shabby MC and I did my best to make it shabbier Let us no forget the "fake" Junkie & Lunatic - I bet even you realized this is not prodigy you kept listening to them Even Daft Punk was at their best back then...
Now we got Guru Josh Project, Benny Benassi, Eric Prydz and whole lotta of other shit the teens like to call "House Music"...SAD...

They have lost it, along with Crystal Method and Prodigy... each one trying to be cool again and failing miserably. It's sad. Like watching a macho man grow old and try to be just as bad ass as his younger counterparts. Thank fuck Fatboy Slim isn't in the limelight much these days, even he grew wank....
