As I can prove you wrong instantly.

Kraftwerk use PCs on stage (Sony Vaio) and let's be honest, they probably know more about electronic music production than the current top 40 put together.

edit: Anyway, pretty much all music hardware which runs on an OS has Windows inside it. I think Digidesign's VENUE may run on Windows, as does OpenLab's MiKO. The Receptor possibly runs on it too. So why don't they run on OSX?

Anyway, yes, more producers use Macs than PCs. That is a fact. However, that doesn't invalidate his other point: You sound like one of those typical Apple fanboys.

I like macs! I use them! But the whole Mac vs PC thing is utterly stupid and it's mostly Apple's fault. I mean, shit, if you start off your developer's conference with "LOOK!!! WE'RE BETTER THAN WINDOWS!!!" you're going to look like tossers.

Oh, and one final point: Most musicians use Macs because it has Logic. They can afford the premium for such a great DAW.

When Kraftwerk released their first album in 1970 pc's and macs didnt exist so cant really count that one

And to be honest Microsoft are as bad as Apple but then why not shout about your product if its far better? unlike this tool who sums up Pc's and is Microsofts chairman

if you read what i said, i never claimed one is better than the other. its mostly down to the user to configure the system for optimal use, any platform can be unstable. mine at the moment is fucking perfect, not one crash, not one driver problem, im so comfortable with it ill keep using it long after ive its incapable of running my apps, and im running vista, everyone hates vista. i think claiming superiority because you run a mac is retarded, i notice theres a lot of sites out there toting mac as 'the' platform for producers, that means shit, it sounds a bit too much like religion to me, what works for you works for you, get off the fucking bandwagon.

Because they don't, they just insult the competitors products which is poor marketing. Imagine if that happened with cars... "BMW sucks!!! They stole our ideas to put wheels on cars!!! Buy Mercedes!!!". Apple find it difficult to actually sell their own products rather than ridicule others, although they are alright with it if they don't have a direct competitor, such as the iphone/ipod touch. Those marketing campaigns are great!

Although, seriously, that campaign they had about boot camp a while ago was terrible and I'm sure you'll agree. "Why are Macs good? Because they can run Windows!". Brilliant stuff, there. Insult a product for years and then proudly proclaim you've spent time and money developing compatibility for a product you think is shit, while choicely ignoring the fact that you can run OSX on a PC, too (which I do, personally.)

Anyway, yeah, Microsoft isn't great at marketing either. The "i'm a PC!" campaign was shit.

i dont necessarily agree with this, most of the software is on mac also. that ad was lame as shit, came across as extremely desperate. if the fat ugly guy stops using it does he automatically become good looking? or just a gay hippy with a massive ego.

You couldn't be more wrong. That campaign was pure genius, as seen by most of the people. Google it.
Anyway, 90% of the people and businesses worldwide use MS products. 10 people in my country use macs. End of story. To me, those mac users are just snobs that think a shitty laptop evaluated by mr cancerJobs at 5000$ is the best thing money can buy. Wake the fuck up. apple is not the computer world equivalent of Lamborghini or Ferrari. Use macs, but enough with the attitude, because no one really gives a shit about what 0.1% of the people say about pcs and win.
As for live stuff, yeah, maybe lots of djs and producers use macs on stage, but like i said, it's normal that those things are more stable than pcs, they have only a handful of things that could go wrong.
Now, can we stop this mac vs pc shit? I think the man got his answer, Liam uses 4 macs, end of story.

i don't get it. how can people get so carried away by the dicussion. It is obvious that there two major companies trying to score on the market by playing it dirty, the namecalling of 'hippy' or 'loser' is a part of their strategy. how can people take such an obviously commercial strategy serious and believe that there the OS you use fits your character?

Campaign or no campaign the fact remains that a Mac shits all over a Pc when it comes down to production. every top producer in the world uses them so you can rant on about ad campaigns, snobbery and all that shit..

You need the skills and the tools to do a job, Pcs just cant hack it.

Elaborate please. What can a Mac do that a PC cant, when it comes to production?

Multi-task

You cannot render large audio/video files and perform simple tasks in the background on a pc, it just freezes... OSX is far more fluid and can handle stability better hence producers and dj's alike using MacBookPro's live

An 8 Core Mac Pro Tower with 32GB of Ram will pretty much render anything thats why Pixar use them to make animations.

a pc with a similar configuration will do the same thing.
i'm tired people comparing macs and pc.
they compare a mac who only has a few hardware configurations available to the genreal public to an entire army of pc configurations.
it's normal that a mac with a 2,4 dual core,2 gb ram it's more stabile than a pc with p4 2,4 ghz and 512 mb ram.of course the pc will crash, even more likely if it runs vista on this configuration.
and lets'a face it,99% of the people who trash win is cause they use it on retard hardware configurations.
put face to face a mac and a pc with the same config and they will both perform exemplary.the only question that remains is what type of os you find more suited do your daily needs.but a win software is defintely better in that department because of all the software and programs and applications you can run on it.
and in the end a state of the art pc with win on it is twice as cheaper then the mac equivalnet.and this is because macs are treaded like fashion items, made out of solid blocks of aluminium, and have led's in the keyboard and all kind of unneccesary shit that pulls another 1000 euros out of your pocket, just because it looks cool, and has a nice colour and it's glossy blah blah blah.

the same with the stupid iphone, lets's pay 1000 euros for a phone that worths 300 euros, and who is tehnically behind all the other touch screen phone manufacturers.it's has a multy-touch display, that's the only good advantage.the rest is outdated as hell, even in this latest version.good is twice the price of a samsung omnia hd.
but people like it cause it's a trend,a religion, something that makes you cool

People can argue all they want.

Mac's OS is superior to microsoft's OS, it's as simple as that. Whether the hardware is better? Doubtful considering you can go as far as you want with a customised tower. In conclusion?

It's down to your own tastes. I have a pretty crap single core PC and am currently looking at a macbook pro. This choice is centred on a few things a) I work on macs all the time at college thus making file transfers etc a little less frustrating b) I love the mac OS c) Mac's hold their value much better than PC/normal laptops thus upgrading is more cost effective d) I love the look of the macbooks.

What did that sort out? Fuck all everyone has their opinions, in some cases it's like an xbox fanboy argueing with a playstation fanboy. No one is going to win, they both have strangths and weaknesses and all in all pretty much balance out. If either or was so much better than the other surley the other format would die out? Like bluray and HDDVD. Mac and PC live in harmoney.
