which one of the albums do you prefer?

For me, IMD took elements of the previous four albums to make a sort of ultimate mash up of what came before and therefore gets the vote, production is also a lot better than AONO, no half finished sounding songs and silly abrupt endings either.

Personally i think invaders must die is a true reform to the prodigy, each song is unique and i can listen to it all the way through which with aono i find myself skipping songs as they aren't incredibly interesting pieces of music

It's a bit of an unfair poll, they are worlds apart. That said i do prefer listening to IMD on the basis it is a more 'traditional' Prodigy record.

AONO's production is unique though. That's down to the fact of how Liam wrote it, he was isolated and used far different techniques than what he was used to and went with it. I think the end result is that he wasn't happy with the end product hence the remixes i.e More Girls, El Batori Hotride, Spitfire 05 etc.

Liam has often said that it was written at the 'dark time' of the band and it shows. It lacked a polish that FOTL had. So IMD was written as a total contrast. IMD's tracks are more ballsy, punchier, hard hitting and most importantly.........better.

I don't hate AONO but it could have been so much more. I went 7 years waiting and waiting for a new Prodigy album and i got AONO. I thought they were finished and this was a wet fart of an album compared to what should of been an atomic bomb.

I will defend AONO a bit, Spitfire is up there as a classic but there is so much shit on that album, Phoenix, Medusa's Path, Under My Wheels. These are tracks that Liam thought were better than what he had written a few months and years previously. Probably a wrong decision not putting on at least Nuclear, Trigger or BGAT possibly in another form.

All in all, AONO has grown on me over time, i appreciate at the time Liam wasn't in the best frame of mind but we only heard that more recently in the lead up to IMD and when i listened to the album again and gave it a little more respect than i did back in 2004.

But yeah IMD is better. Fact.

clearly IMD is the better album.
it's not like the AONO tracks are so bad. it just sounds like a mess.

AONO for originality, although IMD is better produced...

IMD for me :)
Not saying AONO is bad, far from it, Spitfire, Girls, Wake Up Call, Action Radar, The Way It Is are wonderful tunes

Both albums are far from Prodigy's top notch. I used to be angry with that meaning as smb said above <<waiting 7 years and get this>>. But now I just like them - they are still way better than the stuff we're listening to after 2000. AONO is different but still cool although I skip tracks there and some of them sound the same (Get Up Get off -> wake up call -> Memphis bells). I feel sorry for Medusa's Path -> that track had ssoooo much potential. IMD is better, reminded me what I like about the prodigy and of course it is more diverse and of course unites the band again.

Still miss the jilted times, though...Now more than 16 years after its release noone can beat it!!! :)

Aono!!

Sorry I didn't like IMD.. just didn't do it for me. Don't get me wrong, love some of the tunes on it, but thats it.
Its one of them albums that gets put on my shelf and collects dust for a few months, till I realise I have it. Then I'll play though the tunes I like, than back on the shelf for another few months.

Aono on the other hand like the rest of the albums gets put on a lot. I never liked the album much but recently I've come to appreciate it more. Guess its a guilt trip for not liking it before.

But as I said before I had trouble liking IMD when it was released - I was devastated when I brought it and admitted I hated it.

don't get me wrong, i love AONO but IMD just does it more for me, i got into prodigy around AONO and by the time i loved them it was Their Law, seeing them as a band live makes me prefer them to be a band because i feel they sound best as a band and theres alot of tracks on IMD that gave me that rush that i was after.

AONO is a great album but i feel it has too many tracks that i dislike or think there just "meh" i'm more a TMTTH person than a say a WUC person, both have a similar energy though i just love the "band" side of things, and i fully understand there are people who have been into them since they were more of a group than a band and those people got into prodge when they were like that, i still love most of their material, i can say theres about 3 tracks in total i'd wish were a different track.

the thing is AONO had a big step up to go, since the previous album was FOTL i feel like it wasn't better than FOTL though imd in my opinion could be just as good, the reason i feel it wasn't sold as much was because the mainstream of people don't like the style, and there hasn't been enough years to compare it to FOTL so i'm not going to anymore, all i'm saying is liam must have had pressure to write something that he thought was the bomb and doing it all mostly on a laptop just didn't add up to a complete result.
