It could become great if rockstar all of a sudden learned how to develop a decent game engine  I doubt it, but i hope! And please no windows live game shit this time (or something like EA's "origin" for BF3). Its like they try to force people to get cracked copies now a days.

red dead redemption has preety decent engine, it looks much better than gta4 and runs more smoothly on my ps3

sorry, I'm not too much of a gamer, but what did you guys think was so bad in GTA IV's engine ?

That it ran like shit on nearly anything. It would even lag hard on PS3 when driving a car. On PC it was FULL of bugs, that caused anything from crashes to graphic errors. I delivered my game back and got a refund after giving up on getting it to run without errors. And, the games visuals were rather underwhelming compared to how much power it required to run smooth. I especially found the dithered shadows very ugly on a PC monitor.

I played it mostly on my brother-in-law's console (did about 3/4 of the main story missions), but I don't recall running into such lagging problems on his PS3. I thought it was a pretty damn good game

i tried it right after launch on a friends PS3, and it lagged pretty badly if you drove fast =/ maybe i was unlucky or a patch fixed it i dunno.

I just bought the GTA IV Complete Edition, I hope I can finish it before V releases, I never finished it actually (re-started it too many times)
