Following Neill Blomkamp's impressive sci-fi directorial debut 'District 9' his new one is a slight disappointment. It's still a very solid and entertaining sci-fi actioner but the story is a bit too shallow and over simplified. The message 'Elysium' is making is not new but it's more timely than ever but I wish it would have been told with more sophistication. I also wish we're going to get a longer director's cut sometime in the future that is not dumbed down for modern audiences, like the theatrical cut.
