s0ren wrote: Its hard to pin-point, but i agree that it sounds cheesy. Your examples are more than 20 years old, and still i think No Good sounds more badass than anything the prod has put out the last 10 years. Lyrics (not samples) going like "face your fear in the wild frontier" and "The writing is on the wall, it wont go away" are super cheesy imo. Its not far from clichés like "Keep it real", "What goes around", and "What doesnt kill you". Samples are a different thing because they are there because of the sound, not the message. But when you come up with your own lyrics, the contents become very apparent. I dont expect lyrical epiphanies, but they sound like cheesy life lessons rather than something that makes you rave. Other than that, i think the melodies sound simple and dated, and does not have any of the twists or quirks that the prodigy usually had. It is all very basic and accessible without any surprises.
Its like a sunday fry-up - fine but nothing special, and tastes a bit like something you ate two days ago. Very well put. There's a dirty cheesyness and a clichéic cheesyness. Out Of Space was naive and nutty, but it wasn't formualic cheesyness. WF is neither that well produced nor does it have the depth of the first three records, musically. It's not a bad track, but considering what the person creating it did in other moments of his life it's really nothing that great. I'm definitely missing the trademark Prodigy sound these days. Funny, cos Liam goes on about how he doesn't like presets but his tunes sound like preset galleries.

The video is kind of fun but the whole stuffed/dead animals shtick is fucking disgusting. Whoever thought this would be a good image for the band must be out of their mind. You better get used to the "9 year old" sound because the Prodigy is all about live and dance. After you get used to it, youll love those 8-bits. Also i kinda agree on the second part. As i said, Nasty=Disgusting lyrics (not in a bad way lol) and a fox running away from fox racists or something? Poor fox. The Day=a dark military song, what connection does it have to the fox? It sounds way too dark for the poor thing. And now, oh dear, dead animals everywhere. And to top with all the weird animal pics he puts up all the time. I am not sure if this is a right direction. Lets see the message i get from each album: Experience: drugs, feels, rave. MFTJG: f the cops, drugs, dance, heavy sounds. Fat: dirt, abandoned dirty houses, insanity, punk. AONO: 80s and art. Invaders: melodic and tons of tracks inspired from the eras before. Again art, but darker. And now: 8-bit and dead animals. Come on Liam stop hating on the animals (Not serious) The 8-bit part is not really a problem for me. For instance, TDIME is a great track, regardless of the 8-bit melody. The problem with Nasty and this latest turd of a track is that it sounds like a leftover from IMD. It's just cheap, uninspiring and horrible. And anyone in their right mind will tell you that marketing your shit with dead animals is a fucking disaster. Oh well, opinions, but i will love this track and Nasty live. Well what can i say, the video is like the same as Nasty, lets kill some random forest animal. Thinking about it, Nasty video fits this song maybe. Nasty is about butts, this one is not. I would prefer this album to be about dogs rather than stuffed animals. Rockweiler is pretty damn fun and creative, 8-bit, punk and shit with a dog bark sample. Why the fk didnt they release it as a single first? Dogs are getting popular, i am sure people would love a song like that. And the video would be cool, a gang of dogs going on a trip. But hey, im just a normal nerd, i know nothing about marketing so im pretty sure its better to pick Wild Frontier over this.

Out of the three tracks I've heard off the new album, I love TDIME, I'm okay with Nasty, but this one... no. Just no.
As for the videos, I think this is considerably better than Nasty; unfortunately, I don't think we'll see anything like Breathe or Voodoo ever again. Too bad.

Just wanna say I LOVE this track. It's about on par with TDIME for me. It's not really dark but it has that old school Experience vibe mixed with IMD vibe which I love. It's a more "interesting" track overall than TDIME even though the main hook is nowhere near as strong. Drums aren't super strong but I think they needed to get out of the way of the melodies which they do just enough. It just has more interesting sections than Nasty and TDIME, more variations, a great vocal hook - for once not cheesy as fuck. The lyrics are actually really great here imo - good use of Maxim + Keith overlayed. This feels like a great party track, a bit more uplifting than most of their stuff since Experience (which I consider more of a party album). I can imagine a crowd singing along to this and then beach balls and shit flying all over the place when the beat drops (even though beach balls will never happen at a prodigy gig). It's got bits of classic Prodigy darkness mixed in with the euphoric rave vibe of Experience. I'm happy I still think the "darker" stuff will be some of the album tracks - no place for dark singles as super dark/evil sounding singles haven't really been a popular choice since the 90s. Even looking back at previous Prodigy albums they never picked the darkest sounding tracks as singles.

recycled bits from omen no doubt a left over beat from the last album, a lazy uninspiring preset riff..
this just sounds like some goofball european's attempt at making a prodigy track in fruity loops..
an absolute parody..and a MILLION miles away from been a great prodigy track..
Liam howlett has absolutely shat from a great height on what was an unbelievable back catalogue of singles
File under : turd. Dat heartbroken 90's raver melodrama. "goofball european"!!! 90% probability of being a chav. nothing to do with 90s raver... i just have excellent taste. and i can tell when howlett has rolled out a turd.. this my friend.. is a pile of dung Ive heard 100's of people trying to replicate prodigy tracks over the years, especially goofball europeans that "want to play it in their cars and drive faster" ... unfortunately liam howletts latest offering sounds like someone trying to replicate / imitate the prodigy. 1. The break doesn't work at all. 100% shoehorned in. 2. The melody sounds like it was written by someone else 3. The mix down sounds hollow 4. The recycled omen parts are lazy and don't work at all.. 5. This won't sound good in any goofballs car. 6. Back to the break.. its incredibly generic.. and dull

I'm not a fan of this track BUT there's always one or two songs on Prodigy albums that aren't my cup of tea. This just happens to be one of them, I'm not gonna rant and rave about it though. I'm still excited about the new album. How about that DIOYY sample of The Monkeys Are Coming in this? I like that little part but Wild Frontier is too poppy and radio friendly for my taste. Back to the new Phace and Spor for me!

As long as a track is better than nasty, it's album worthy. Only thing I don't like about this track is it's hard to distinguish different sounds. Every sound is overpowering the other.

After many listens, I can say I really didn't expect this, then again, I don't think anyone did.
I like its catchiness, and the layering is quite rich (fucking apes in the background man!!!). The beats are cool, nothing out of the ordinary, but cool none the less.
I don't understand people who complain about the lyrics. I agree that they're cheesy as fuck and have zero meaning, but that's the case with all of The Prodigy's lyrics, so what's your point? And I'm not talking about samples.
Seriously, how is this worst than: "I walk through mindfields so watch your head rock" "I got the pulsating rhythmical remedy" "Tell stories about all the young girls" "He Was Creepy Like Dracula"
About all of Breathe's lyrics are fuckin' lame taken out of context.
If you even remotely like The Prodigy, how can you not understand that their lyrics suck, and it's part of the fun?
Sure, I'd sometimes rather like that the MC and the dancer shut their mouths, but come on, we won't get another MFTJG, ever. My fav song from IMD is Take Me To The Hospital, and it has the most awful, cheesiest lyrics ever. It's part of who and what they are.
I love the Vangelis feel of the track, and I find the video very entertaining, much better than anything from AONO for instance.
FUCKIN' APES MAN!!!
