What's even the point of having a review thread when anything remotely critical gets dismissed?

Reviews like that are pure click bait, fuck them. The bad reviewers want to out do themselves to who can give the wittiest put down of the album.

To be honest, I'm glad pricks like this guy hate the album. It means Liam has done his job properly. I don't want someone like this to get this album. They are not supposed to. Music with edge will always divide the crowd.

Tbh. It's almost as if the new album was designed to be hated on by every single "trendy" fella on the planet, picking up inspiration from lots of "uncool" trashy fast, exciting music from around the world.

Shit like this is just embarrassing, people on here are taking criticism of the album more personally than Liam FFS. I'm not even gonna get started on the reply above mine because fucking hell.

At a point in time, for people outside the scene, the hardcore rave sound was deemed the dumbest, trashiest fucking form of barelyevenmusic ever made. Reviled even by other dance music fans (like anyone into gentler sounding "proper" house music)
(ex: there's a nice old interview with the band before jilted generation came out that mocks their upcoming collaboration with Pop Will Eat Itself because "guitars and dance music are a bit of a shit combo, innit!")
The point: Liam never really cared for other people's definiton of "cool". Always been attracted to loud, trashy, dumb fun stuff.

in 2015, this band still puts out loud, trashy, fast tunes.
They've practically been pissing off "dance music" fans with the punkier inspired tracks since Fat of the Land. You cant deny that a lot of those types hate "guitar music" and their usual idea of diversity is consuming several different kinds of dance music done in different bpm's. (with a bit of hip hop on the side, because white people consuming and co-opting black culture has always been trendy)

the basic modus operandi of being "trashy" and not caring much about the "cool trend" du jour has stayed the same for the band. It's no surprise that Diplo, Die Antwoord and the whole Major Lazer crew are one of Liam's favourite things about current dance music. They do the trashiest sounding stuff out there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4NUWtm5dKQ

Probably not gonna bother buying the album, wich i think is just ok (with Invisible Sun being complete cringe worthy Linkin Park sounding shit), so i guess i'm a nutso fan that takes criticism of the band more personally than liam.

I somehow don't even blame those fans who cant take criticism well. The nature of a fanatic is a bit religious, most of them follow blindly.

Major Lazer (specifically Dave Taylor) and Die Antwoord are really good influences to have, I wouldn't really call it trash. Their production skills are top notch as well, much more in tune with the "current scene" in terms of how they produce and define their tracks, which is something Liam is lacking on this album.

i meant "trashy" more in terms of those guys whole attitude and vibe wich is based around the lowest possible level of "outsider street culture" imaginable, not really the definition of the sonics.

They are definitely not in the same vibe as "Disclosure" who seem to only want to court the higher middle class jetset types with runway show ready tunes.
Compare that with the baile funk influence on lots of diplo's stuff.

bottom line:
Disclosure = Vintage wine
Die Antwoord = Diet Coke.

get it?

Can someone name 3 people/magazines who have a credibility in music reviews?

Also it will be interesting to see reviews from people who did one for IMD or AONO.
