But these two edited track.. I thought i would hear the first version of GYFO and a whole different rhythm bomb (think Liam H reamped). They just feel like a waste.

uh and what made you think so?
It clearly said Rhythm Bomb EDIT.
An edit is nothing but a shorter version of a track made for radio plays.

And there was no additional naming on GYFO, so why would you think it's a different version..?

it's pretty obvious that we weren't going to get and will never be getting the original GYFO.
the original version was hugely based around an Alice Cooper sample.
Look at Liam's history of b-sides and songs containing samples as of lately.
Liam wasn't gonna waste money on sample clearance or give away percentage for an EP release for a demo that he moved on from.

so i dunno how you can be disappointed because you were expecting something that was never mentioned you were getting in the first place.
we're getting a non-album, unheard track along with a reworking of GYFO and edit of RB with 2 new remixes.

we should be happy that we're even getting something like this
and fans bitching to Liam about it is a sure way to make sure Liam never does it again.
be happy you're getting something new and we're getting steady releases from the band this album era.
and if gets a decent reception, hopefully we have more releases like this in store with more new music, alternate mixes, and remixes.

i've never been a fan of the very first version of gyfo. It sounded to me too cheesy and obvious, especially in the "chorus" if we can call it like this. I consider the latest version much more original, even if i'm not convinced by the riff. This is one of these trax that could have been even better.
Concerning awol, it is clear that it won't be the very first version of it and this is a shame. However i expect a strike two, who knows...

Yeah, never really felt the original GYFO either
As for AWOL, I can only hope it's closer to the Bratislava version or AWOL Beats
I never really felt the version they usually play

just got word that the tapes are doing well :)

thanks to everyone who has bought them so far. If it proves to be popular, then maybe we can get future and past stuff released/rereleased in more formats!

there are some people on certain forums that hate that big successful bands are releasing tapes; they want it to be the domain for the diy punk band. From my POV, The Prodigy are the ORIGINAL DIY PUNK BAND of the last 20 years anyway, so who better to do this with.

I fucking love this EP.

Liam has got his hand on the only tape version of the EP currently made (theyll be ready mid July), cos I made one test copy, and he stole it from the label :) Hoping to see photos of it on social networks soon!

Im providing the label photos of the tape to put up tomorrow, so you will get more than just the artwork :)

Rene LaVice's mix is the only good one so far that i've heard. after a 3rd listen i like it. not really into all that dnb craze, although this one has a more old skool kinda vibe which is cool. plus i like that melody he's using in the beginning.

stil... play the goddamn album version live please

It's funny how the official website's own EP description gets the release date wrong: -

Quote:
Taking the counter comment to the album’s title track ‘The Day is My Enemy’, The Prodigy are pleased to offer details of a forthcoming EP entitled ‘The Night is My Friend’ – due for release on July 17th.

The EP includes album tracks ‘Get Your Fight On’ and ‘Rhythm Bomb’, two fresh remixes and the previously un-released, fan favourite ‘AWOL’.

‘AWOL’ has been a track the band have played live since 2012 but as the album writing and recording process developed the band decided to hold AWOL back . Now, after reworking it into a new unheard version they feel it’s time to make it available on record…….. and limited cassette!

17th was the original release date. It got moved to 31st recently. Thats why the band were saying "early july" because at that time it was. The vinyl is September because vinyl pressing plants have a really long turnaround time. There is a massive queue because there arent enough plants!

I think someone said it best in a previous post, that many things can happen at a label to affect release dates and sometimes we are at the mercy of external forces! You wont be disappointed though guys!

As I thought it sounds like the early live version of The Day.
