He used his W-30 to trigger samples.
The song Gabba was basically Liam alternating between samples on his W-30:

You can see it around the 3:28 mark and the 4:36 mark - Liam triggering samples.

they are beats, but i don't know if they are default for the keyboards.liam said in an interview once that he likes the w30 for the beats it has.they definetely aren't samples.they are like the beats you can make with a sample pad.hit a pad,and you get a boom, pnly he has keys insteade of pads.here:

The W30 doesn't have ANY useful default sounds AT ALL. It is essentially a midi keyboard with a VERY basic sampler with limited memory. When Liam triggers sounds from the W30 he either has them loaded in the internal sampler bank from floppy disks, or he's using the midi function to trigger samples on an external sampler. You won't find any Prodigy sounds on a W30.

The W30 iz just a workstation where you can load samples and build songs. It has no original sounds and everything comes from your floopy disks wich you insert:
The W30 Music Workstation was released in the late 80's. It is a 12/6 bits sampler with full sample editing, onboard MIDI sequencing and wave table synthesis. It can read several samplerdisks types, like S50, S550, S330 and of course W30 disks.
One of the main reason Liam bought the W30 its because it has raw quality like he said and it has also the fantastic advantage of looping samples automaticly without pressing the key again and again to make it loop manually. This feature allows him a full control on the live performance. Liam says:
'' one of the W-30's really good features is the 'loop-back' facility where the sound can go forward and loop back on itself. I dunno why but Akai have never done that. It's such a useful feature for getting smooth string sounds. On some tracks, the loops are played live. Instead of sequencing them I've got two or four bars of the track all on different keys and I actually play them in...... "
The video of Gabba live iz a perfect example of it. Thats about it.
