Some people don't like 'Invaders Must Die' and they seem to be saying that they expect better (in their opinion) from Liam Howlett.

What they seem to be saying is that they have liked every single track Liam has ever made up until the 'AONO' era when, in their opinion, their expectation of the music Liam makes wasn't up to their standards.

I was just wondering, is there any other artist you like that you expect to produce something you love every time or is it just The Prodigy?

i think people were disappointed with AONO not because this was too different from what they expected. people hated AONO mostly because the songs were repetitive, poorly written and the whole thing sounded kinda flat and uninspired.
i like to expect the unexpected when it comes to music. future sound of lonon is a great example. listen to "dead cities" for the first time and you'll never know what's next. bloc party is another good example, every album of them sounds different but i expect them to write a tune like "pioneers" every now and then.

i disagree bloc party is boring as shit, future sound of london i agree before so what are you talking about?he had aono where he used too much distortion on all the tracks, similar samples and shit that make them seem the same but that's it.
every thing liam's has done was different ,every new release is different.it's become a prodigy trademark to change sounds from album to album and still have loud heave beats and punk raving attitude

I think its great what Liam does with every album or "era" if ya wanna call it that.

The thing with them is I believe "EVERYONE" can find something in The Prodigy they can like, its not hard to find people who like something they have done. But its hard to find someone who likes everything they've put out.

People have already brought up AONO, which I actually love, and still listen to these days. I think one day it will get the respect and love it deserves.

The thing that is bothering me with people's critisms of IMD is that people don't like the fact Liam used a synth sound that maybe certain other acts use WAY TOO MUCH. I just don't understand why people have a problem with Liam using this sound.

The day Liam puts a limit on himself on what he should or should use then that will be a sad day for fans. I can't wait for more and it still pisses me off people say IMD is "simple."

AONO is still a good album, Spitfire is one of my fave Prodigy tracks from any era. Girls is a classic single. Wake Up Call and Action Radar rock it, both dirty sounding in there own way. There is some sub-standard material on AONO though, Shoot Down being the most obvious example. AONO isn't as good as their 90's albums, but it is still very much a Prodigy album even if it was just Liam...

As for the new album, I think it'll easily top AONO because it's sounding like it'll be harder and more focussed, and more of a band album. I don't think it'll top their 90's albums, but fall imbetween AONO and their 90's albums which means it'll be very good imo...

It's only The Prodigy and Radiohead the two most consistent bands from the 90's till now

Lmao!

Oasis are SHIT no creativity at all just Beatles recycled

I like them but only their first 3 albums the rest were utter shit with the exception of 'Stop crying your heart out' which is the most original song they ever written.

I couldn't say that I really expect anything from The Prodigy (or any other artist for that matter). I still like to be surprised, I still love the feeling when I, for example, put some new music on my MP3 player, go outside, and then listen, not knowing what will come out from the headphones. I think, and I know that many others do, that the music in general has come to the point when it is really hard to make something groundbreaking, only The Prodigy did that for me and that's why they are the only band I could really say I'm a fan of. There is plenty of good music out there, and I really listen to many music genres, but still nothing blows me away like The Prodigy did.

AONO is the first Prodigy studio album that has tracks I don't like (I also don't like Death Of The Prodigy Dancers but I don't count it because it is a live track). So it was not totally unexpected for me that Liam produces a track for a Prodigy album, and that I don't like it. But when I had a first listen of IMD, my initial reaction was that I had been a little bit disappointed. So it means that I did expect something after all. I think this is the first time that I have a first listen of The Prodigy track and that I immediately think of some other artists name (Pendulum). I think that has never happened before. Even when I had a first listen of AONO, first reaction was that some tracks don't sound like The Prodigy, I could find similarities with some other music genres but not with a certain artist. And I believe that this feeling is really a reflection of personal experience, what music we listen to and how we experience music in general. So I respect other people opinions when they say they don't think it sounds like Pendulum, I guess lot of us really do experience music in different ways. I'm sure that, if I didn't listen to Pendulum before, my first reaction to the track would be better.

But, I guess because being a Prodigy fan, I couldn't just let it go so I listened to the track over and over (I don't do that with other artists, I usually listen to the track once and decide whether I like it or not). And I started to get used to the sound of the track, and started to find things in it that really sound like The Prodigy. So after many listens, I think I don't have a problem with it sounding like Pendulum any more, I just don't like the track for certain reasons. And when I say "don't like", I don't think it's shit, or that it's not listenable, in my case it just means that I won't listen to it very much. Still looking forward to everything that's Prodigy related :).

I'm sorry if I went a little off-topic.

my expectations are high as ever. the forthcomming album is so eagerly-awaited by the fan base and from what we heard live, it rose the bar so fucking high. i am still convinced that my espactations arent too high, especially after this brief review of... that guy  . by the way liam himself claims this work to be one of his best... so this piece of plastic better be shiny :-D

by the way, bands you can constantly expect quality from are rare... one to me is rammstein

When you are a fan of an artist you give them the benefit of the doubt. If you hear a track but don't like it at first you give it a few more listens. You probably wouldn't do this with an artist you aren't a big fan of. They earn the extra chance by their previous tracks that you have liked.

Some tracks you instantly get into. Some tracks are growers. Some you'll never like. How many times have you heard a track and not thought much of it but then the more you have heard it the more you've liked it? I can remember hearing the 'One Love' EP for the first time and not being instantly into 'Full Throttle' and 'Rhythm Of Life'. Now I love them. Repeated listens subconsciously identify elements I liked.
